Flying with a Wedding Dress on Allegiant Air

Bringing a Wedding Dress Into the Cabin with Allegiant Airlines

Allegiant Air allows you to bring your wedding dress in the cabin as long as it fits within the Carry-On size limits (9 x 14 x 22 inches).  Keep in mind that Allegiant does not include a carry-on allowance, you will have to pay extra to be allowed to bring your dress as a carry-on item.

Your dress can be either packed into a standard carry-on size suitcase (we recommend getting it professionally packed into a suitcase by your bridal shop), or in a travel-specific garment bag that can be folded/rolled up to fit into the overhead bins. If bringing your dress in a garment bag, you can try to lay it out flat on top of other suitcases in the overhead bins, after other passengers have loaded their suitcases. Do not lay it out as the first item in the overhead bin, as other passengers will crush the dress trying to place their suitcases on top.

Allegiant Air does not offer on-board closets to hang your wedding dress.

If you prefer, it is also possible to purchase an additional seat for your wedding dress to fly in - it will have to laid out on the seta and fastened with a seatbelt.  Please note that some passengers have complained that even when purchasing an extra seat for their wedding dress, the flight attendants forced them to place the dress into the overhead bins for take-off and landing, which defeats the purpose of purhasing an extra seat.

Do not pack your dress into your regular checked luggage suitcase, as you risk the dress getting lost in transit if your suitcase doesn't make it to your final destination. It is much safer to bring your dress, shoes, jewellery, and other wedding day essentials onboard so that they do not get lost.

Flying with a Fabric Steamer on Allegiant Air

Your dress is bound to arrive wrinkled at your destination, it is highly recommended to fly with a fabric steamer to steam out any wrinkles before your big day.  You are allowed to pack a steamer into both your regular checked luggage, as well as into your carry-on luggage as long as there is no liquid left inside, otherwise it will not be allowed through the TSA checkpoint.

Flying with a Bridesmaid Dress on Allegiant Air

The same rules as for a wedding dress apply to flying with a bridesmaid dress in Allegiant Air - it must be packed either in a travel-specific garment bag or into a standard roll-aboard suitcase (limited in size to 9 x 14 x 22 inches).  Do not pack your bridesmaid dress into a standard checked luggage, as you risk it being lost in transit if your suitcase doesn't arrive.

Keep in mind that Allegiant Air doesn't include a free carry-on item, so to bring a roll-abord suitcase you will be charged an extra fee.
