VivaAerobus Carry On 2023 - Cabin Bag Size & Weight Limit

Each passenger is permitted to carry two pieces of hand baggage into the aircraft cabin, weighing up to 10 kg (22 lbs), with maximum dimensions of 55 x 40 x 25 cm. Infants who share a seat do not have a baggage allowance.

It is possible to increase your carry-on allowance from 10kg to 15kg for an extra fee of about $14 USD ($27 USD at the airport). Viva Smart fares already include this increased carry-on weight allowance of 15 kg / 33 lbs.

VivaAerobus Checked Baggage Fees 2023 - Checked Bag Weight & Size Limits




VivaAerobus International Flights Checked Baggage Allowance
VivaLight Baggage Allowance International: No free checked baggage allowance. You can purchase a baggage allowance in increments of 15, 20, 25, and 32kg, starting at a rate of $30 USD per bag. If planning to bring baggage, it is recommended not to purchase a VivaLight fare.

VivaBasic Baggage Allowance International: 15kg is included in your free baggage allowance. It is possible to purchase an increase in your weight allowance up to 20, 25 or 32 kg (prices range from $6-$12 USD). Please note higher prices on flights to/from New York and Chicago, with a price range of $42-$106 USD.

VivaSmart Baggage Allowance International: 25kg is included in your free baggage allowance. It is possible to purchase an increase in your allowance up to 32kg for approximately $6 USD. On flights to/from New York and Chicago, this will cost you about $46 USD.

VivaAerobus Domestic Flights Checked Baggage Allowance
VivaLight Baggage Allowance Domestic: No free checked baggage allowance. You can purchase a baggage allowance in increments of 15, 20, 25, and 32kg, starting at $549 MXN per bag (approx $30 USD).

VivaBasic Baggage Allowance Domestic: 15kg is included in your free baggage allowance. It is possible to purchase an increase in your allowance up to 20, 25 or 32kg (prices range from $200 - $400 MXN / approx $11-$22 USD).

VivaSmart Baggage Allowance Domestic: 25kg is included in your free baggage allowance. It is possible to purchase an increase in your allowance up to 32kg for $200 MXN / approx $11 USD ($360 MXN / approx $20 USD at airport)

VivaAerobus Overweight Baggage Fee 2023 - Extra Bag Fee - Oversize Baggage

VivaAerobus charges extra fees for overweight, oversize, and excess baggage. These fees can be pre-paid at a discounted rate ahead of time either online or through their call center - if not, you'll have to pay the higher rate at the airport. It is much cheaper to pre-purchase your excess baggage online during time of booking, rather than adding it later to your booking, or at the airport (most expensive), so it is best to plan ahead.

VivaAerobus does offer the possibility to purchase a weight allowance increase, as opposed to purchasing extra bags, so you'll have to decide what is most economical for you depending on the items you are bringing.

Be sure to note that VivaAerobus charges these extra bag fees for every Segment of flight, so if you are on a connecting flight, it is possible that you will be charged 2x the Excess Baggage fees. If you're on a connecting flight with both an International and Domestic segment, you will be charged both the International and Domestic excess bag fees.
