Carry On Size & Weight - Checked Bag Fee

For the convenience and safety of all passengers the following dimensions will be used to determine the allowable carry-on baggage for each aircraft type:

Carry-on items can be checked for size by using the sizing device located at the check-in counter indicated by the signage shown on the right.

Carry-on baggage must be stored under the seat in front of you or in the overhead compartment. Please be aware that available space varies from one aircraft type to another.

All passengers are limited to 2 pieces of carry-on baggage, with maximum total weight of 10kg / 22 lbs.

Dimensions of your carry-on item are limited to 54 x 22 x 38 cm for flights on Boeing 737 planes (most flights). The second piece must fit under the seat in front of you, and is limited to 33 x 15 x 41 cm. Dimensions are limited to the smaller size of 38 x 22 x 28 cm for flights between Whitehorse and Dawson City, Inuvik, Mayo, and Old Crow.

2 pieces of Checked Baggage are allowed free of charge for Air North passengers.

On most flights, your free checked baggage allowance is limited to a total weight of 45 kg / 100 lbs with no single item weighing more than 23 kg / 50 lbs. Additional pieces are accepted for a fee of $30 CAD plus taxes.

Flights to/from Dawson City, Inuvik, Mayo, and Old Crow have a smaller free baggage allowance, allowing only a total combined weight of 20 kg / 44 lbs free of charge. Additional baggage will be charged at a rate between $1.65 - $4.18 / kg, depending on the origin and destination of your flight.
