For travel on all TACA routes one piece of hand luggage is allowed weighing a maximum of 22 pounds (10 kilos) with external dimensions (height + length + width) not exceeding 115 centimeters (45 inches). The modules at the airports have luggage measurement facilities so you can check the dimensions of your baggage against current standards.
Our LifeMiles Elite (Gold and Diamond) members can take 2 pieces of carry-on baggage, each weighing up to 22 lbs (10 kg), with total linear dimensions (height + length + width) not exceeding 115cm (45 inches).
Gold Star Alliance Passengers in Business Class can take 2 pieces of carry-on baggage, each weighing up to 22 lbs (10 kilos), with total linear dimensions (height + length + width) not exceeding 115cm (45 inches).**

In addition, each Passenger may take one of the following items into the cabin under their own care and at no additional cost:
Ladies purse/handbag.
Blanket.
Walking cane.
Camera or binoculars.
Photographic equipment, video and laptop computers.
Items to be consumed by infants during the trip.
Wheelchairs, crutches and prostheses for use by travelers who depend on these items.
Baby Strollers (collapsible) in use.
Portfolio.
Walkers.
POC and properly packed batteries.
These items can be transported in the cabin provided their size, volume and weight do not disturb other passengers, or obstruct emergency exits, aisles or doors. Neither should they affect Passenger safety.All hand luggage must fit in the overhead compartment or under the seat in front in accordance with Aviation Regulations. Hand luggage that is too large or whose irregular form means it does not fit in the overhead compartments or under the seat will not be accepted as hand luggage and must be checked.
Remember: knives, penknives, box cutters, folding or retractable blade knives, ice picks, scissors, sharp edged objects and / or similar, are not allowed in hand luggage.
Transporting liquids, gels and aerosols
For all flights the transport of liquids, gels and aerosols in hand luggage is restricted.
The items considered as restricted liquids in the cabin are:
- Water, soups, syrups and other beverages.
- Lotions, perfumes and oils (including toothpaste).
- Creams, Gel (shower gel or shampoo).
- Pressurized containers (including shaving foam, other foams and deodorants).
- Aerosols.
Exceptions to the above restriction
- Medicines, liquids (including juice) or gels for diabetics or other medical needs.
- Baby bottles, mother’s milk or juice in baby bottles, packaged food for infants or children up to two years old.
- Passengers with special dietary requirements.
- Items that are purchased in duty free stores at airports or on board aircraft. Items must be in a sealed tamper-proof packet and with satisfactory proof that the item was purchased in the stated airport shops on the day of travel, both for passengers departing from an airport as well as for those in transit from it.

Our LifeMiles Elite (Diamond and Gold) members, can take two (2) pieces of baggage, each weighing up to 50 lbs (24 kg), plus one (1) additional piece weighing up to 44 lbs (20 kg) in Economy Class; in Business Class they can take two (2) pieces of baggage, each weighing up to 70 lbs (32 kg), plus one (1) additional piece weighing up to 44 lbs (20 kg), with total linear dimensions (height + length + width) not exceeding 158 cm (62 inches).
For travel on or after March 1, 2013, regardless of the date of purchase, our LifeMiles Elite Silver members, only on flights operated by Avianca and/or TACA, are entitled to 2 pieces of baggage of 50 lbs (23 kg) in Economy Class and 2 pieces of baggage of 70 lbs (32 kg) in Business Class with the total sum of exterior dimensions (length + height + width) for each bag not exceeding 158 cm (62 inches).
Gold Star Alliance Passengers in Economy Class can take 2 pieces of baggage each weighing up to 50 lbs. (23 kg) in Economy Class, plus one (1) additional piece of up to 44 lbs. (20 kg); in Business Class they can take two (2) pieces of baggage each weighing up to 70 lbs. (32 kg), plus one (1) additional piece of baggage of up to 44 lbs. (20 kg). Pieces checked by TACA weighing 101 pounds or more (46 kilograms) or with the sum of their external dimensions (height + length + width) greater than 230 centimeters (90,5 inches) will not be accepted as checked baggage, in which case you should contact our Cargo department.
