Flying With Fishing Rods

Most airlines do not have an issue with taking your fishing rod with you as checked baggage. Often times the oversize baggage fees are waived for fishing gear. The easiest way to pack your fishing rods when traveling is to disassemble them, and pack into a hard shell case. Airlines often require that fishing rods be packed in hard cases. Keep in mind, fishing equipment cannot be taken as carry-on.
