Norwegian Airlines has been very affected by the COVID pandemic, and has decided to cut it's international long-haul routes to and from the US, Argentina, Brazil, and Thailand.
Norwegian will continue operating flights to Nordic countries and through Europe. Baggage Fees have been updated for 2022 to reflect this change.
Be sure to note that Norwegian charges for bringing a standard Carry-On bag in it's lowest fare class (LowFare), which now allows only a single small personal item weighing up to 10kg, that must go under the seat in front of you. If you would like to bring a larger carry-on bag (roller bag) that can go into the overhead locker, it will cost between 5-10 EUR (5-9 GBP). Only LowFare+ and Flex tickets have an overhead carry-on bag already included in the ticket.
Expect to pay for all checked bags with Norwegian Airlines. It is cheapest to Pre-Pay for your bags at least 4 hours before your flight - any closer and the price of the checked bags will be more expensive.

Norwegian allows one small carry-on item for all passengers, that must fit under the seat in front of you. Only LowFare+ and Flex passengers may bring a larger (55 x 40 x 23 cm) carry-on suitcase/roller bag that may go into the overhead bins. LowFare passengers may NOT bring a larger carry-on bag without purchasing an additional carry-on allowance together with Priority Boarding.
Weight Limits of Carry-On Baggage on Norwegian Airlines is limited as follows:
LowFare: Max 10 Kg Underseat Bag
LowFare+: Max 10 Kg COMBINED Underseat Bag + Larger Overhead Bag
Flex: Max 15 Kg COMBINED Underseat Bag + Larger Overhead Bag
(Please note, on flights to/from Dubai the total combined carry-on baggage allowance for all passengers is limited to 8 Kg)
Please keep in mind that if you are a LowFare passenger and you add an extra overhead carry-on bag, you weight limit is still only 10Kg, as this weight limit is the COMBINED total weight of both the underseat bag and the overhead bag.
Norwegian Airlines 2nd Carry-On Baggage Fees 2022
If flying on a LowFare ticket, you may purchase a 2nd carry-on bag that you can place into the overhead compartment for a fee of 5-10 EUR on Domestic flights, and 7-10 EUR on Short-Haul International flights. Please keep in mind that if you add an extra overhead carry-on bag, you weight limit will still be only 10 Kg, as this weight limit is applied to the COMBINED total weight of both the underseat bag AND the overhead bag. If you are on a LowFare+ or Flex ticket, your allowance already includes an overhead bag, and you cannot add any more.
Oversized Baggage at the Gate
If you arrive at the gate with you carry-on bag exceeding the maximum dimensions allowed by Norwegian Airlines, you will not be allowed to bring your item on-board - your bag will have to be gate-checked, and you will be charged a fee of 55 EUR for the service.
