The rule for carriage of excess baggage is reflected in the ticket and will differ depending on the special conditions of the fare. For carriage of baggage over the allowance, there will be a surcharge for excess baggage. We do not allow more than 60 kilos per passenger. For checked baggage the maximum weight per piece is 32 kg.
Musical Instruments
A passenger can carry a musical instrument replacing his piece of hand luggage as long as its measurements are appropriate for overhead luggage compartment or space in front of his seat. The largest musical instruments should be charged and be properly packaged for acceptance on the flight. If the instrument exceeds the free baggage allowance, the passenger will pay the difference compared with the rate of luggage for the trip. If necessary to be carried in the cabin, an extra seat must be booked in advance at a cost determined depending on the route. These additional seats (extra seat) can be booked through our call centers, outlets at airports or travel agencies. Musical instruments that exceed 75 kg in weight or length of 140 cm. will not be accepted, or for extra seat or as checked baggage.
Special Baggage
All sports equipment must carry a disclaimer signed by the passenger and will be labeled under limited acceptance. Otherwise, Islas Airways will not access the transport of that baggage, without exception. Islas Airways is not liable for any damage suffered by the special baggage during flight. Transportation of special baggage will be subject to space, transportation may decline, despite the signing of the appropriate disclaimer, when there is enough space in the holds of aircraft or it is understood that transportation may pose a risk of flight or for the rest of the baggage. If the sports equipment exceeds the free baggage allowance, the passenger will pay the difference with the excess baggage fee for the course.
