Flying with Babies and Kids on Allegiant Air

Infants and Babies Under 2 Years Old Fly Free on Allegiant Air

Infant and babies under 2 years old (less than 24 months) may fly free of charge on a parent's lap on Allegiant Air.  You must add them to your reservation when making a booking by selecting "Infant on Lap" under the number of passengers when starting your flight search on AllegiantAir.com.  A maximum of 1 lap infant is allowed per adult passenger, otherwise they will be required to fly in their own assigned seat as an "Infant in Seat".

When flying on a parent's lap, your child will not be allowed to use a car seat. In order to use a car seat in flight, your baby must have their own assigned seat.  [AMZ asins='B00RXW8CVC,B000RRD7UG,B07MZFD26C,B00TSL2UJ6']

Proof of Age to Fly on Allegiant Air

Allegiant Air will require proof of age for your child to fly as a lap infant - your baby must be less than 24 months old on teh date of the flight to fly on your lap, otherwise FAA regulations prohibit your baby from flying on your lap and they must fly in their own assigned seat as a regular ticketed passenger.

Although it is preferred that passengers under the age of 18 use government-issued picture identification, they may also use other forms of identification that show their birthdate, such as a birth certificate.

Using a Car Seat on Allegiant Air

Both the FAA and Allegiant Air recommend that children weighing less than 40 lbs fly in a government-approved car seat. In order for your baby to fly in a car seat, they must have their own purchased ticket with an assigned seat. Young infants and babies less than 2 years old may fly on their parent's lap, but will not be allowed to bring a car seat into the cabin.

If you wish your hild to use a car seat on their flight, it must be the governement's safety certification and be labeled as "This restraint is certified for use in motor vehicles and aircraft" in order to be FAA-approved for use on an airplane.  Most car seats are approved for aircraft use, but not all, so be sure to check that your specific car seat meets these safety and labeling requirements.

Bringing a Diaper Bag into the Cabin on Allegiant Air

Although Allegiant Air is quite strict in terms of carry-on allowances, they do allow you to bring a diaper bag into the cabin free of charge when flying with a child.  The diaper bag will not count as either your carry-on luggage nor your personal item, it can be brought on board free of charge in addition to your regular carry-on allowance.

Family Seating on Allegiant Air

Allegiant Air does not guarantee that you will be seated all together as a family - the only way to guarantee that you will be seated together is to purchase seat selection for an additional fee and to select your seats when making your booking.  If you have not selected your seats ahead of time, Allegiant Air will try to accomodate you by seating your family together, but the availability of seats together is not guaranteed.
