Flying with Babies and Kids on JetBlue

Family Seating on Jetblue Flights

JetBlue does not offer family seating on their flights - your only option is to purchase seat selection, or selecting a higher fare type (Blue, Blue Extra, or Mint) that offer included seat selection, to choose your seats close to each other.

Babies and Infants Under 2 Fly Free on Jetblue

Babies and infants younger than 2 years old can fly free of charge on Jetblue flights when sitting on a parent's lap.  If you would like your baby to have their own assigned seat and to fly in an FAA-approved car seat (the safest way for a baby to fly), you will have to purchase a separate ticket for them. It is free for a baby to fly on a parent's lap on U.S. domestic flights on Jetblue. On internatioanl flights, Jetblue will not charge you for your infant to fly on your lap, but you will have to pay any applicable taxes for your infant to fly on your lap.  In both cases, you will still need to make a reservation for your baby to fly on your lap.

A maximum of 1 lap infant is allowed per adult - if flying with more than infants than adults, you will need to purchase an individual seat for your other baby to fly.

How to Add a Lap Infant to a JetBlue Reservation

You can add a lap infant to your reservation (it is free to do so) while making your booking on JetBlue.com.  To do so, select to add a Lap Infant in the "Number of Travellers" section when starting your flight search, otherwise the option to add a lap infant will not show up.  You may also call JetBlue reservations at 1-800-JETBLUE to add a lap infant to an existing reservation.

Minimum Age to Fly on Jetblue

Jetblue allows babies as young as 3 days old to fly, but if your baby is younger than 14 days old, you will need a doctor's note with permission for the baby to travel.  Babies and Infants can fly on a parent's lap up until their 2nd birthday.  Kids older than 2 years old must fly in their own assigned seat, and cannot fly on a parent's lap.  Proof of age, such as a birth certificate, passport, or immunization records will be required at check-in.

Changing Tables on Jetblue Flights

All JetBlue airplanes have at least one lavatory with a changing table on board, please ask your flight attendant when boarding the plane which lavatory it is.

Inflight Entertainment for Kids on Jetblue

JetBlue offers a selection of kid-friendly entertainment options through their on-board seat-back TVs including Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, and Animal Planet, as well as Amazon streaming options on your own device.

Early Boarding for Families with Young Kids on Jetblue

JetBlue allows families with young kids, less than 2 years old, to pre-board early in order to have time to get comfortably settled in before the flight.  Please pay attention to the gate-agents at the boarding gate when they announce pre-boarding for families.
