Babies Under 2 Fly Free on JetBlue

Babies Under 2 Fly Free on JetBlue on US Domestic Flights

Infants and Babies under 2 years old may fly free on a parent's lap on U.S. domestic flights.  You will have to add your baby free of charge to your reservation, either when booking your flight through Jetblue.com, or adding them to an existing reservation by calling 1-800-JETBLUE.

To add a lap infant to your reservation when making your booking, be sure to select a Lap Infant in the "Number of Travellers" section at step 1 of starting your flight search on jetblue.com, otherwise the option to add a Lap Infant will not show up when you start to make your booking. Flying as a lap infant, your child will not have an assigned seat, and will not have any checked baggage allowance, however a stroller and car seat may be checked-in free of charge.  You will be allowed to bring a diaper bag into the cabin in addition to your regular carry-on allowance when flying with a lap infant.

A maximum of 1 lap infant is allowed per adult - if exeeding this, your other children will need to fly in their own assigned seat with a purchased ticket.

Proof of age will be required for a lap infant.  They must be a minimum of 3 days old, and up to a maximum of 2 years old.  If your baby is younger than 14 days old, you will need a doctor's approval for your baby to travel. If your child turns 2 years old while away on your trip, they will have to have a purchased ticket and fly in their own assigned seat on the return portion of your flight.

Babies and Infants Under 2 Fly Free on Jetblue International Flights

Jetblue does not charge for babies and infants under 2 years old to fly on a parent's lap on international flights, but some taxes and fees may still apply.  Young babies traveling as lap infants and departing from an international destination to the U.S. will be assessed an infant fee. This fee depends on the origin of the flight, and is charged only on the portion of the flight flying into the US.

All passengers, including lap infants, are required to have a valid passport for international travel.  You may need to provide a notarized letter of authorization if flying internationally with only one parent.

Children older than 2 years old must fly in their own assigned seat, and cannot fly as a Lap Infant after their 2nd birthday.
