JetBlue Car Seat and Stroller Policy

Flying with a Car Seat on JetBlue

If your child is flying in their own assigned seat (with a purchased ticket, not as a lap infant), you may bring the car seat into the cabin for your child to use as long as it is FAA-approved for airplane use. Your car seat must be labeled with "This restraint is certified for use in motor vehicles and aircraft".  Although most car seats meet the governement safety requirements for aircraft use, not all do, so be sure to check that your car seat meets the requirements if you would like your child to use it in flight.

If flying with a lap infant, or you prefer that your child fly in their own assigned seat without a car seat, JetBlue allows your child's car seat to be checked-in free of charge as a piece of luggage, without counting against your baggage allowance. You may either drop off your car seat at the check-in counter, or bring it with you through security and "gate-check" the car seat when boarding the flight. We always suggest bringing your car seat with you through security and choosing to "gate-check" the car seat, rather than dropping it off at the ticket counter.  This minimizes the opportunities for your child's car seat to be lost or damaged along the way.  We recommend packing your car seat into a brightly colored car seat protective cover, to keep it from getting stained, torn, ripped, or damaged, and to catch the baggage handler's eye so that it doesn't get left behind at the gate or on the plane.

Bringing a Stroller on JetBlue Flights

A stroller may be checked-in free of charge on JetBlue flights, in addition to your regular checked baggage allowance.  Your child's stroller will not count toward your baggage allowance.

You may choose to drop off the stroller at the check-in desk together with your regular suitcases, or bring it through security and use it at the airport up until your boarding gate, and leaving it by the jetbridge to be "gate-checked".  Whenever possible, we recommend gate-checking your stroller, and packing it into a protective cover when dropping it off at the boarding gate when boarding your flight.
