Firearms Only Accepted as Checked Baggage on JetBlue
No person may bring a firearm onboard the aircraft, whether concealed or unconcealed, except state, municipal and county law-enforcement officers on duty. Firearms and shooting equipment are only accepted as CHECKED BAGGAGE on JetBlue flights.

Checking in your firearm with JetBlue
You must be 18 years old or older to check-in a firearm. One item of shooting equipment will count as 1 Checked Bag on your JetBlue flight.
Firearms must be packed in a locked, hard-sided case specifically designed for the firearm, and ammunition must be packed separately.
Customers should remain present during screening at the ticket counter to take the key back after the container is cleared. Once TSA confirms that criteria has been met, the firearm may be placed in your checked bag.
All firearm containers with designed lock area(s) must have a lock placed in all of the designed lock area(s). This means that if your case has multiple locking areas, ALL of the locking areas must be locked, otherwise your case cannot travel.
Purchasing a Pistol Case from JetBlue
Pistol cases may be available for purchase by cash or credit card at any JetBlue ticket counter for a nonrefundable fee of $55. Quantities are limited.
BB Guns and Air Guns on JetBlue
BB guns and air guns are also considered as shooting equipment and are subject to the same requirements and restrictions.
Paintball and Airsoft Guns on JetBlue
Paintball guns are accepted only in checked baggage, as long as they do not contain an internal compressed gas cylinder. If your paintball gun uses an External CO2 charge, it will be accepted as checked luggage, but your CO2 charges are not allowed to be brought with you.
The same applies for your Airsoft guns - they will be accepted only if it uses external CO2 charges. Your Airsoft gun may be packed into your checked baggage, but the CO2 charges are not allowed to fly under any circumstance.
Shooting Equipment Counts as Checked Baggage on JetBlue
One piece of shooting equipment will count as a checked bag toward your JetBlue Baggage Allowance - standard JetBlue Baggage Fees may apply. You may bring multiple firearms in a single case, but are limited to the following quantities per case:
- 1 rifle case containing no more than 2 rifles with or without scopes, one shooting net, noise suppressors, and a small rifle tool set
- 1 shotgun case containing no more than 2 shotguns
- 1 pistol case containing no more than 4 pistols
Bringing Ammunition on JetBlue
JetBlue requires that all ammunition be packed SEPARATELY from your firearm. Be sure to note that this differs slightly from the rules of some other airlines that allow ammunition to be packed in the same case.
Ammunition is never accepted in your carry-on luggage, it must go only into your checked baggage. Be sure to note that ammunition will NOT be accepted on any International JetBlue flights, not even in your checked baggage.
Ammunition must be packaged in its original container or fiber box (such as cardboard), or a wood or metal box specifically designed for carrying small amounts of ammunition. Loose ammunition is NOT ACCEPTED.
Ammunition must be housed in a separate container that is completely separate and distinct from the firearms locked box. It may be in the same checked bag as the firearms box as long as everything is packaged properly.
Ammunition is limited to a total of 11 lbs (5 Kg) per passenger.
