Babies Under 2 Fly Free on Delta Airlines

Infants Under 2 Years Old Fly Free on Delta Airlines - USA Domestic

Babies and Infants under 2 years old can fly for free on Delta Airlines US Domestic flights - however, please keep in mind that they are still required to have a ticket.  They may fly for free when sitting on a parent's lap, known as an "Infant in Arms" or "Lap Baby".  For a baby to fly in their own assigned seat, you will still need to purchase a ticket.

To add an "Infant-in-Arms" to your reservation free of charge, follow the steps below: [AMZ asins='B00TSL2UJ6,B089NR6B41,B01DD0V4QC,B09NCDP4SM']

1. Go to "My Trips" on the Delta website
2. Go to "Special Service Requests", find the "Infant in Arms" icon, and click "Open"
3. Press the "+" button beside "Request Infant in Arms"
4. Fill out your baby's travel information
5. Click "Confirm"

Keep in mind that only one infant in arms is allowed per adult. If you are traveling alone with two or more children under the age of 2, only one of your babies can fly in your arms for free, and the other will need to have their own seat and fly in a government-approved car seat.

You will need to buy a ticket for your baby if you want them to have their own seat.

International Flights on Delta with Babies Under 2 Years Old

Your baby under 2 years old can sit on your lap on international Delta flights, but they will need their own purchased ticket. On international flights, Delta offers discounted tickets for a "Baby in Arms," which is usually 10% of the adult fare. Even if your baby is sitting on your lap, you will still have to pay taxes and fees depending on the country to which you are travelling to.

If you would rather your baby fly in their own assigned seat, you will have to purchase a seat for them, typically at the full adult-fare. There are some discounts available for children depending on the country you are flying to.

Children Aged 2-14 on Delta Airlines

All children flying on Delta Airlines that are older than 2 years old are required to fly in their own seats, and are not allowed to fly for free on their parent's lap.  Some country-specific discounts may be available for your child's ticket, but in most cases you will need to purchase a full adult-fare for your child.
