Babies Under 2 Fly Free on Alaska Airlines

Babies Under 2 Years Old Fly Free on Alaska Airlines Domestic Flights

Babies less 2 years of old can fly for free on a parent's lap on Alaska Airlines on US Domestic flights.  Please keep in mind that you will still need to add your baby as a Lap Infant to your reservation to allow them to fly.  To add your baby as a Lap Infant to your Alaska Airlines flight, call 1-800-252-7522 and have your confirmation code ready when making the request.

A maximum of one lap infant is allowed per adult. [AMZ asins='B00TSL2UJ6,B089NR6B41,B01DD0V4QC,B09NCDP4SM']

You may be asked to show your child's proof of age at the check-in desk, whether that be a birth certificate, passport, or other form of identification.

Alaska Airlines does not specify a minimum age for any child to fly, but they do recommend consulting with a doctor whether it is safe for your child to fly.  Most other airlines require babies to be at least 7-14 days old to fly.

If you prefer that your baby fly in their own seat, rather than on your lap, you will have to purchase a regular adult fare ticket for them to have their own assigned seat.

All children 2 years of age or older are required by the FAA to fly in their own assigned seat, and can no longer fly in their parent's lap. You will need to purchase a regular adult fare for all children older than 2 years old.  If your child has their 2nd birthday while away on your trip, you will need to purchase a separate seat for your child for the return portion of your tirp.

Discounted Fares for Children 2-13 Years Old on Alaska Airlines

Unfortunately Alaska Airlines does not offer any discounted fares for children flying on their planes - you will have to purchase a regular adult fare for all children 2 years of age or older, or for babies less than 2 years old if you prefer they fly in their own seat rather than on your lap.
