Flying with a Wedding Dress on Hawaiian Airlines

Bringing a Wedding Dress in the Cabin on Hawaiian Airlines

Hawaiian Airlines allows you to bring a wedding dress into the cabin in place of your standard carry-on item.  Your wedding dress will count as your carry-on item, as long as it weighs less than 25 lbs.

When boarding the plane, you can ask a flight attendant to hang your dress in a jacket closet - this is usually reserved for First Class passengers, but many flight attendants will try to be accomodating and hang your dress - be sure that it is in a travel-specific garment bag that can be folded to shorten the dress, as these closets are typically not very tall.  [AMZ asins='B07N7KY1Q8,B07V91437Y,B08LMYP6T8,B09TRCCPCB']

If your dress cannot be hung in the closet (either because it is full, there is no closet on board, or the flight attendant is not being helpful), you will have to place your wedding dress into the overhead bin.  It is best to lay your dress flat across on top of the suitcases, after all of the suitcases have been placed into the bin.  This is so that your dress doesn't get crushed by other passengers trying to place their suitcases into the overhead bin.

Another option is to get your dress professionally packed into a standard carry-on sized suitcase (22 x 14 x 9 inches), and to bring it on board.  We do not recommend flying with your wedding dress in your checked luggage, so that it doesn't get lost in transit before your wedding.  Be sure to bring your shoes, jewellery, and other essentials on-board in the cabin with you as well.

When arriving in Hawaii, your dress is likely to be wrinkled - we recommend flying with a fabric steamer to steam out any wrinkles upon arrival at your destination, to get the dress in tip-top shape for your big day.  You can pack a hand-held travel steamer into your carry-on bag as long as there is no liquid left inside (otherwise it will be stopped at the TSA Security check), or pack it into your regular checked suitcase.  Another option is to find a trusted cleaner at your destination, and arrange to get it professionally steamed upon arrival.

Flying with a Bridesmaid Dress on Hawaiian Airlines

You can bring a bridesmaid dress on Hawaiian Airlines by packing it into your carry-on suitcase (maximum size 22 x 14 x 9 inches), or in a garment bag that when rolled up or folded fits into these standard dimensions.  The maximum weight of your bridesmaid dress is limited to 25 lbs.  It is best to bring your dress, shoes, and jewellery into the cabin, so that it doesn't get lost in transit which could happen if you were to pack it into a checked suitcase.
