Flying with Babies and Kids on Hawaiian Airlines

Hawaiian Airlines allows infants and children to fly with their parents on all flights - if your child is younger than 2 years old, you may choose whether to purchase a seat for your baby, or choose to have them sit on your lap.  Children older than 2 years old are always to required to have their own purchased seat.

Does my Child Need a Ticket to Fly on Hawaiian Airlines?

All children flying on Hawaiian Airlines, whether domestically or internationally, are always required to have their own ticket.  Children over 2 years old are always required to have their own purchased ticket with assigned seat, and infants younger than 2 years old flying on a parent's lap are also required to be officially added to the parent's reservation, even if flying for free. You can add your baby as a lap-infant to your ticket by contacting Hawaiian Airlines reservations at 1-800-367-5320. [AMZ asins='B00RXW8CVC,B000RRD7UG,B07MZFD26C,B00TSL2UJ6']

Infants Under 2 Years Old Flying on Parent's Lap on Hawaiian Airlines

Babies and infants younger than 2 years old may fly on a parent's lap on Hawaiian Airlines flights, but must still be added to the parent's reservation ahead of time.  A maximum of 1 lap child is permitted per adult - if flying with more young children less than 2 years old, they will have to fly in their own assigned seat on their own ticket.  Only 1 lap infant on lap is allowed per row on each side of the aisle because of the number of oxygen masks available, so if two adults are flying with 2 lap infants, you will need to be seated on separate sides of the aisle, or in different rows.

Carry-on and checked baggage allowances do not apply for lap infants.  You may bring your child's government-approved car seat on-board and use it only if there is an empty seat available on the flight - otherwise it will be gate-checked for the duration of the flight and returned to you upon arrival.

For a child to fly on an adult's lap, the adult must be at least 15 years old on North American flights or between the islands, or at least 18 years old on international flights.

Children older than 2 years old may not fly on an adult's lap, and must have their own seat purchased.  Proof of age may be requested at check-in proving that your child is younger than 2 years old.  If your child turns 2 during your trip, they will need to fly in their own assigned seat for the return portion of your flight.

Minimum Age to Fly on Hawaiian Airlines

Babies must be at least 7 days old to fly on Hawaiian Airlines, either in their own seat (in an approved child restraint device such as a car seat), or on a parent's lap.  Young infants less than 7 days old may fly on Hawaiian Airlines if accompanied by a physician's note allowing them to fly, stating that it is safe to do so - this note must be dated no less than 1 day before the flight.

Baby Bassinets on Hawaiian Airlines

Baby Bassinets may be available on some Hawaiian Airlines international flights - if you would like to reserve a bassinet for use during your flight, please contact Hawaiian Airlines reservations at 1-800-367-5320.
