United Airlines Military Baggage Policy and Discounts

United Airlines offers baggage allowance benefits to Active Duty US Military personnel, including U.S. Army, U.S. Navy, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Marines, U.S. Coast Guard and National Guard, and cadets of the Air Force Academy, West Point, Naval Academy, Merchant Marine Academy and Coast Guard Academy.

United Airlines Military Baggage Allowance for US Military Traveling on Orders or Relocating


Active US Military traveling on orders may check up to five bags at no charge.  If you are an active US Military member traveling on official business or relocating, you may check-in up to 5 bags weighing up to 100 lbs / 45 kg each, free of charge.  The standard size restrictions of 62 linear inches (L+W+H) still applies.

United Airlines Military Baggage Allowance for US Military on Personal Travel


Active US Military traveling on for personal reasons may check up to three checked bags at no charge.  Each bag may weigh up to 70 lbs / 32 kg. Applies only on United and United Express-operated flights, and when baggage check-in occurs with United.

United Airlines Lounge Access for US Military Personnel


Active duty military members in uniform or with present leave orders or rest and recuperation papers have complimentary access to the United Club lounges.  You will need to present your military ID, your boarding pass and sponsoring documentation for entry.  Lounge access is also available to family members and dependents traveling together with the military member.
