American Airlines Active Duty US Military Personnel Flying on Orders Special Baggage Allowance
If you are an Active US Military personnel flying on military orders on American Airlines, you can check-in up to 5 checked bags free of charge, with each bag weighing up a maximum of 100 lbs (45 kg). The maximum dimensions of each checked bag are 126 inches (length + width + height). You will need to present your military ID and orders at the check-in desk.

American Airlines US Active Military Baggage Allowance for Personal Flights
As a Thank You for your service, American Airlines offers a special free baggage allowance for Active US Military personnel, allowing you to check-in up to 3 bags of 50 lbs (23 kg) each free of charge. You will need to present your military ID at check-in.
American Airlines US Military Dependents Travelling on Orders Baggage Allowance
US Military Dependents travelling on orders receive the same checked baggage benefits of 5 bags of 100 lbs / 45 kg each as US Military Personnel. You will need to present Military Dependent ID and a copy of the active orders.

These military benefits apply forActive U.S. military personnel, defined as any member of the U.S. armed forces (Navy, Army, Marines, Air Force and Coast Guard) in an active status (Cadets are included). This excludes customers with a Civilian Military ID, US Public Health Service, Military Reserves and National Guard.
