Flying with a Car Seat on American Airlines
American Airlines allows passengesr to bring a car seat free of charge as checked baggage. The baby car seat may check-in either at the ticket counter when dropping off your regular suitcase, or brought to the boarding gate and "gate-checked" when boarding the aircraft.
A car seat may only be brought into the cabin if your child has their own ticket with an assigned seat, and the car seat is approved for airline travel. It must meet all FAA labeling requirements, including the following labels:

"This child restraint system conforms to all Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards" AND
"this restraint is certified for use in motor vehicles and aircrafts" or "this restraint is certified for use in motor vehicles and aircraft."
If your car seat is not manufactured for the US market, it will need to bear the government certifications of its country that it meets the requirements of the United Nations for safe use on an aircraft.
Bringing with a Stroller on American Airlines
American Airlines allows 1 stroller to be checked-in free of charge, in addition to regular checked baggage. The stroller may be checked-in either together with your suitcases at the ticket counter, or you can choose to use the stroller through the airport and dropping it off at the boarding gate when getting onto the plane.
Please note that all strollers weighing more than 9 kg / 20 lbs must be checked-in at the ticket counter, and cannot be dropped off at the gate.
If flying with both a car seat and a stroller, only 1 of these items may be "gate-checked" (dropped off at the gate when boarding the plane), and the other must have been checked-in at the ticket counter.
