Alaska Airlines will accept hockey equipment as two separate items - one hockey bag with hockey equipment (skates, pads, pucks, gloves, etc.) and one hockey stick bag with sticks, or multiple sticks taped together.

The overweight fee for hockey equipment will be waived, as long as your hockey equipment bags contain ONLY hockey equipment (no clothing or other items).
Your hockey equipment will be charged like a standard piece of baggage, meaning a fee of $35 if it is your 1st checked bag, $45 if a 2nd checked bag, or $150 if a 3rd or additional bag.
The increased 1st and 2nd checked luggage fees ($35/$45 vs $30/$40) apply to all flights booked on/after January 2nd 2024.
The higher $150 3rd / Extra Bag fee applies on all Alaska Airlines flights purchased on/after June 30 2023. The previous extra bag fee of $100 still applies to flights purchased before June 30 2023.
