Flying with Babies and Kids on Sun Country Airlines

Infants Flying on Parent's Lap on Sun Country Airlines

Sun Country Airlines allows young infants less than 2 years old to fly free of charge on a parent's lap.  Please contact Sun Country Airlines reservations to add your baby to your reservation, and bring proof of age with you (for example a birth certificate) to prove your baby's age.  Young children 2 years of age or older need to be seated in their own seat, for which a full adult fare must be purchased.

A maximum of 1 lap-infant per adult is allowed.  If flying as 2 parents with 2 lap infants, please keep in mind that you must be seated on opposite sides of the aisle or in separate rows, due to the limit in number of oxygen masks available per row section. Minimum Age for Baby to Fly on Sun Country Airlines

The minimum age for a baby to fly on Sun Country Airlines is 8 days old.

Family Seating on Sun Country Airlines

If you are flying together with children on your Sun Country Airlines flight, it is recommended to pay the seat selection fee and choose your seats to fly together.  Please keep in mind that if planning to use your child's car seat during the flight, that car seats are not allowed to be used in aisle seats, exit row seats, or in the rows immediately in front of and behind the exit row seats.

You may also choose not to select your seats ahead of time, in which case your seats will be randomly assigned.  Because you are travelling with children, the system will attempt to seat your child with at least one adult on your reservation, but this may not be guaranteed.  The only way to ensure that you will be seated together as a family is to select your pre-select your seats when making your reservation.

Using a Car Seat on Sun Country Airlines

The use of a car seat is not required by Sun Country Airlines or FAA regulations, but it is highly recommended for children that cannot sit upright on their own.  In order to use your child's car seat on the plane, it must be FAA-approved with appropriate labeling (the label must read: "This restraint is certified for use in motor vehicles and aircraft").

Please remember that only babies and children with their own assigned seat (meaning their own purchased ticket) may use their car seat on the plane.  Young infants less than 2 years old flying for free on a parent's/adult's lap may not use their car seat during the flight.  The car seat will instead of checked-in as a piece of luggage free of charge.
