Sun Country Airlines Car Seat and Stroller Policy

Bringing a Child's Car Seat on Sun Country Airlines

Sun Country Airlines allows you to bring your child's car seat as checked baggage free of charge - your child's car seat will not count toward your checked baggage allowance, and will not incur any fees.  You may drop off the car seat at the ticket counter together with your regular suitcase, or bring it with your through the airport and drop it off at the boarding gate when entering the plane.

We recommend always bringing your child's car seat with you to the boarding gate, as this minimizes the chances of it getting lost or damaged in transit, and ensures that it makes it with you onto the flight.  We recommend placing it into a brightly colored "gate-check" car seat bag, to catch the eyes of the baggage handlers and to ensure it doesn't get stained, scraped, or damaged when being placed into the cargo hold of the aircraft. Using a Car Seat on Sun Country Airlines

Your child may use their car seat on the plane (the safest way for a young child to fly, and recommended by the FAA) only if they have their own purchased ticket with an assigned seat.  Lap infants (younger than 2 years old flying for free on a parent's lap) may not bring their car seat into the cabin, and it must fly in the cargo hold of the aircraft (this is free of charge).

In order to use a car seat on the plane, it must meet the FAA's labeling requirements showing that it meets the safety standards for use on an aircraft.  Most, but unfortunately not all, car seats meet these requirements, and have a label affixed to them stating "This restraint is certified for use in motor vehicles and aircraft". The gate agents will be looking for this label before allowing you to bring your child's car seat into the cabin, so be sure to check that your child's car seat meets these requirements.

Flying with a Stroller on Sun Country Airlines

Sun Country Airlines's stroller policy allows for your child's stroller to fly as a piece of luggage in the cargo hold free of charge. You may drop it off either at the check-in counter together with your regular suitcase, or use the stroller through the airport "gate-checking" it by dropping it off when boarding the airplane.  Strollers are not allowed to be brought into the cabin.

Similar to bringing a car seat, we recommend packing your stroller into a brightly colored "gate-check" stroller bag so that it is easily noticed by the baggage handlers, and to ensure it doesn't get caught up and damged, such as a broken wheel or handle, when being placed into the cargo hold.
