Spirit Airlines Infant and Child Baggage Allowance

Spirit Airlines Infant in Lap Baggage Allowance

Spirit Airlines does not offer a complimentary baggage allowance for infants and babies flying on their parent's lap.  The only exception is that you will be able to check-in your child's car seat and stroller free of charge.  You may drop off these items either at the check-in desk together with your suitcase, or bring them to the gate and drop them off when boarding the aircraft.

You may bring a diaper bag into the cabin free of charge when flying with an infant on your lap - this diaper bag does not count as either your carry-on allowance or personal item. [AMZ asins='B000RRD7UG,B00RXW8CVC,B08T4C26XY,B01DD0V4QC']

Spirit Airlines Child Baggage Allowance

All children 2 years of age or older must fly in their own assigned seat, meaning they have to have their own ticket.  The regular Spirit Airlines adult checked baggage and carry-on rules and fees apply for children flying with their own ticket.

In addition, you may bring your child's stroller and car seat as checked luggage, or bring the car seat into the cabin for your child to use during the flight, as long as the car seat meets the FAA's safety requirements and is appropriately labeled for use on an aircraft. The label on your child's car seat must read: "This restraint is certified for use in motor vehicles and aircraft".
