Please note the reduced weight limit allowed by Spirit Airlines (40 lbs/18kg, rather than the typical 50lbs/23kg which is standard among most other airlines) when packing. Otherwise you will be charged an overweight fee for exceeding this limit.

Any checked baggage that exceeds the standard size and weight limit defined by Spirit Airlines is subject to excess baggage charges in addition to the standard checked bag charge (a standard checked bag is defined as a bag not exceeding 62 linear inches (length + width + height) in overall size and 40 pounds in weight).

51 – 70 lbs. (23 - 45 kg) +$125 (previously $99)
Between 62 - 80 linear inches (158 - 203 cm) +$150 (previously $100)
More than 80 linear inches (203 cm), Special Items Only - $150
Spirit Airlines will not accept baggage weighing more than 99 pounds, or longer than 80 inches in a single dimension (or 160 inches in combined dimensions), special items only are allowed above the 80 inches limit. Please note, additional rules may be apply for some Spirit Airlines international routes.
