Flying with Children - Family Seating on Ryanair Flights

For family bookings, children (aged 2 to 11 years) receive free reserved seating so they can sit beside a parent. The parent must pay to select their own seat paying the Mandatory Family Seat fee of 4-6 EUR depending on the route, and the children need to be seated next to the parent.  When an adult purchases a reserved seat they can select up to 4 children’s seats beside them free of charge.  If an adult selects a reserved seat outside of specific rows (depending on aircraft) they must pay the price difference. Similarly, if a seat is selected for a child outside of these rows, they will be charged the full reserved seat price of these seats.

If there are not enough seats available together for the family to be seated together, Ryanair will not reallocate seats of other passengers to seat your family together - your only options are to either fly with the family seated separately, or to select a different flight.

What is Ryanair Family Plus?

When making a reservation on Ryanair when flying with children aged 2-11 years old, Ryanair will recommend the Ryanair Family Plus fare package.  This offers complimentary family seating for up to 4 children on the booking, plus a 10 kg checked luggage for each member of the reservation, and 1 x 20 kg checked luggage for the family.  Please note that the 20 kg checked bag is a single suitcase for the entire family, not an individual 20 kg for each family member.    The Ryanair Family Plus package does NOT include a 2nd cabin bag, only the single small bag (40 x 20 x 25 cm) for each passenger.
