Ryanair Car Seat and Stroller Policy

Bringing a Pushchair / Buggy / Stroller on Ryanair Flights

Ryanair allows you to bring 2 pieces of baby equipment free of charge, including a pushchair / buggy / stroller and another item such as a baby car safety seat.  This applies whether your baby is flying on your lap or in their own purchased seat.

You may choose to either drop-off your baby's pushchair at the check-in desk at the same time as you drop off your suitcases, or you may use the stroller throughout the airport and drop it off at the boarding gate when getting onto the flight.  This is known as "gate-checking" your stroller. We always recommend to gate-check your pushchair by bringing it with you through the airport - this allows you to use the buggy while making your way through the airport with your little one, and also lessens the chance of your stroller getting lost or damaged while in transit.  Many parents prefer to pack their stroller into a brightly colored "gate-check" stroller bag to keep it from getting scratched, damaged, stained, or torn while being placed into the luggage hold by the baggage handlers, and the bright colour catches the luggage handler's eye to keep it from getting left behind.

If you have already brought 2 other pieces of baby equipment with you on your journey, the pushchair will incur an extra "Child Equipment Fee" of 25 EUR / GBP.

Flying with a Child's Car Seat on Ryanair Flights

Ryanair allows you to bring your child's car seat free of charge on its flights, either as checked luggage or to be taken into the cabin for your baby to fly in.  In order to be allowed to use the safety seat in the cabin, your child must be flying in their own purchased seat (not in a parent's lap), and the car seat must meet specific labeling requirements in order for it to be allowed to be used on the plane.

Using a Baby Car Seat on Ryanair Flights

Your child must be flying in their own purchased seat in order to be allowed to use a car seat on a Ryanair flight.  If your baby is less than 2 years old and is flying on a parent's lap, they are not allowed to bring the car seat into the cabin, and it will fly as a piece of checked baggage in the luggage hold.

Ryanair only accepts forward-facing car seats that use a 5-point harness, and your car seat must be approved and labeled for use in an airplane.  Booster seats are not allowed. The labels on the car seat must say either:

US – “Certified for use in motor vehicles and aircraft”

Europe –  European Standard Mark.

Your baby's car seat must be no wider than 17 inches / 43 cm in order to be able to fit into seat on Ryanair's airplanes.

Bringing your baby's car seat as hold luggage

If your baby is flying your lap or you prefer to bring their car seat in luggage hold, Ryanair will accept to transport it free of charge.  Ryanair accepts 2 pieces of "Child Equipment" for free, which can be either a child's safety seat, a booster seat, a pushchair / buggy / pram / stroller, or other piece of baby equipment.  If bringing more than 2 pieces of child equipment, additional items will be charged a 25 EUR / GBP "Child Equipment Fee".
