Sunwing Car Seat and Stroller Policy

Flying with a Car Seat on Sunwing Airlines

Infants and young children may fly in a government approved car seat on Sunwing Airlines as long as they are flying in their own seat - this means that you must have a valid purchased ticket for your infant, and cannot be flying as a Lap Infant.

Your car seat must meet either the Canadian Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (CMVSS), labeled with the sticker CMVSS 213 or 213.1 and must have been manufactured after 1981, or meet the US Department of Transporation safety requirements for aircraft use, which can be checked by looking for a label that reads both "This child restraint system conforms to all applicable Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards" and "This Restraint is Certified for Use in Motor Vehicles and Aircraft". Sunwing staff will inspect your car seat before allowing it onto the plane, checking for these specific labels, and will otherwise not allow it to be used in flight. When flying with your infant on your lap (must be less than 2 years old), your car seat may be sent as checked luggage as one of your complimentary child equipment items.  You can either check-in your car seat together with your regular luggage, or bring it to the boarding gate and "gate-check" the car seat.  We recommend gate-checking the car seat when possible, to minimize the chance of it getting lost, misplaced, or damaged on its way to your destination.  We recommend protecting your car seat in a brightly colored "gate-check" bag to keep it from getting dirty, torn, or damaged, and to catch the eye of the baggage handling agents so it doesn't get forgotten or misplaced.

Flying with a Stroller on Sunwing Airlines

Sunwing Airlines allows 2 pieces of child equipment as complimentary items when flying with an infant or child, which can include either a car seat, stroller, or playpen. Your child's stroller can be checked in as a piece of luggage either at the check-in desk, or you can choose to use it through the airport and "gate-check" the stroller right before boarding the flight.
