Sunwing is converting to a low-cost a-la-carte model for baggage fees, and this includes charging a fee for bringing a carry-on suitcase into the cabin. Sunwing has since made changes to its baggage policies with the latest policies applicable for all flights booked on/after December 5th 2023.
Each fare-paying passenger on Sunwing Airlines (both Vacation and Flight-Only passengers) is permitted one small personal item free of charge, which must be no larger than 23 cm x 28 cm x 13 cm. The personal item must be placed under the seat in front of you (not in the overhead compartments). There is no specified weight limit for your small personal item. If you wish to bring a regular standard carry-on sized suitcase/roller bag into the cabin, you may do so by paying a $25 carry-on bag fee (each way, so $50 total for a round trip flight). This will allow you to bring a carry-on sized suitcase and place it into the overhead bins. The maximum size of this carry-on suitcase is limited to 51 x 40 x 23 cm. Officially, a maximum weight limit of 5 kg / 11 lbs applies, although this limit is so low it is not strictly enforced.

As of May 29th 2025, when Sunwing Vacation Packages are operated by Westjet, passengers will be allowed both a small personal item and a standard carry-on sized suitcase/roller bag (9 x 14 x 22 inches) free of charge.
