Bringing a Wedding Dress on Westjet as Carry-On Item
Westjet accepts your wedding dress in a garment bag in place of your Personal Item. This means you can bring your standard carry-on suitcase and your garment bag with your wedding dress.
Westjet does not have any closets on board their aircraft, so you will have to place your wedding dress into the overhead bin. We recommend waiting until the overhead locker is packed, and lay your garment bag across the top of the carry-on suitcases in the locker.

When arriving at your destination, your dress is bound to be wrinkly. We recommend packing a travel-sized hand steamer to steam your dress before your big day.
It is definitely recommended to bring your wedding dress (along with your shoes, jewellery, and accessories) with you as your carry-on, to avoid the risk of having the airline lose your wedding dress if you packed it into your checked luggage.
Bringing a Bridesmaid's Dress on Westjet Airlines
Your bridesmaid's dress should be packed into your carry-on bag when flying on Westjet. You can also bring the dress in a garment bag in place of your Personal Item, and lay it on top of the suitcases in the overhead locker.
It is best to wait until the locker is packed and lay your dress on top, so it doesn't get crushed by other passenger's suitcases being placed on top of it.
Always bring your bridesmaid's dress as your carry-on item, so that it doesn't get lost in transit. There is no worst feeling that not being able to stand beside the bride on her big day because your dress is lost in a suitcase that didn't make it to it's final destination on time.
Packing a Hand Steamer on Westjet Airlines
You can bring a hand steamer to get the wrinkles out of your dress at your destination. The a steamer is allowed on board in your hand luggage as long as there is no liquid inside, or you can choose to pack it in your regular checked luggage.
