Westjet has introduced checked baggage fees for first and second bag on many of it's flights, depending on the fare class in which you are travelling.
For all Westjet flights in 2023, it is cheaper to prepay for your baggage when making your booking, or at least 24 hours before your flight, because baggage fees go up by $10 within the last 24 hours or when checking-in at the airport. Important: When booking your Westjet flights to Europe, be sure to note that both "Basic Fare" and "Econo Fare" tickets do not include any free checked bags, meaning that you will have to pay for a 1st checked bag in both cases, but the checked bag fees for "Basic Fare" tickets are more expensive ($60 Basic Fare vs $30 Econo Fare for 1st bag, $90 Basic Fare vs $50 Econo Fare for 2nd bag).
