When flying with Frontier, everybody is allowed to carry one personal item free of charge, regardless of Fare Option. If you would like to bring a regular carry-on bag, you will be charged by the airline. Plan ahead, as it is cheaper to pre-purchase your carry-on bag online, rather than doing so at the airport. Price depends on your dates travelling.
When traveling on Frontier Airlines with more baggage, such as a carry-on item and a piece of checked baggage, consider purchasing one of Frontier's bundles that include both a carry-on and checked bag - both "The Works" (available only at time of booking) and "The Perks" (available anytime) include a carry-on and checked bag. What is a "Personal Item"?
You may carry-on one personal item that fits under the seat. This item must not exceed 18" x 14" x 8" in dimension, inclusive of all handles, wheels, and straps.
Personal items include:
Handbag, purse, or pocketbook
Backpack
Briefcase
Laptop computer, with or without a bag
All personal items are subject to inspection by airport security and our personnel.
Be sure that your Personal Item does not exceed it's size limit, as Frontier Airlines is notorious for being sticklers in regards to checking that items brought onto the plane meet the limits, and are actively looking to charge the $99 gate-check bag fee on carry-on items that exceed the size limits. Frontier Airlines employees are extra-motivated to seek out oversized carry-on items as they are paid a commission on these charges.
What is a "Larger Carry-On Item"?
A carry-on bag on Frontier Airlines must not exceed 10" height x 16" width x 24" length, inclusive of all handles, wheels, and straps, and the bag can't weigh more than 35 pounds. A carry-on bag must fit underneath the seat or in an enclosed overhead bin. Keep in mind to pay online,while making your booking reservation. If you purchase a carrry-on after booking the flight, it will be more expensive than buying the bag together with your reservation.
Please note, Frontier has recently modified it's carry-on bag prices in mid-2023. Be sure to confirm the exact prices for your flight on the Frontier website, using your flight confirmation number. The prices below are meant as a guideline of the new prices that Frontier charges for bringing a larger carry-on item.

$67 online after booking or more than 24 hours before flight

$79 via Call Centre
$79 at airport ticket counter or self-serve check-in kiosk
$99 at departure gate
If you arrive at the gate with a carry-on bag that exceeds the allowable dimensions (10" height x 16" width x 24" length), you will have to pay a $99 fee to gate check the bag.
