When you travel on Air Canada or Air Canada Express (flights operated by Jazz, Air Georgian and Sky Regional), your complimentary baggage allowance is determined by your fare, destination, date of ticket purchase and frequent flyer status.

Please note Air Canada's new baggage fees for 2023, as baggage fees have gone up by about 20% on domestic flights in 2023, including for 1st, 2nd, additional, and overweight/oversize bags.
Air Canada no longer publishes a fixed set of baggage fees by destination category. Instead, they have begun to offer a baggage fee calculator to input the origin and destination of your flight, along with any loyalty status you may belong to. We have included guidelines to the fares below, but please check the official Air Canada Baggage Calculator for the exact fees you can expect for your specific flights.
AIR CANADA ECONOMY CLASS CHECKED BAGGAGE FEES
Includes Air Canada Tango, Flex and Latitude fares, and Aeroplan Economy, Air Canada Vacations Economy and Air Miles Economy tickets.

Air Canada Checked Baggage Fees for Flights WITHIN Canada
1st bag - $36 CAD/USD (per direction) (Flex and Latitude fares - 1st bag free)
2nd bag - $60 CAD/USD (per direction) (Latitude fare - 2nd bag free)
Each additional bag - $120 CAD/USD (per direction)
No overweight or oversize charges apply when the additional bag fee is paid.
Max. weight per bag: 23kg (50lb)
Max. linear dimensions per bag: 158 cm (62in)
Overweight bag: $120 CAD/USD (per direction) for bags between 23-32kg (50-70lb)
Oversized bag: $120 CAD/USD (per direction) for bags between 158-292cm (63-115in)
If a bag is both overweight and oversized, the $120 fee is charged only once.

Air Canada Checked Baggage Fees for Flights between Canada and US
1st bag - $31.50 CAD/USD (per direction) (Flex and Latitude fares - 1st bag free)
2nd bag - $52.50 CAD/USD (per direction) (Latitude fare - 2nd bag free)
Each additional bag - $105 CAD/USD (per direction)
No overweight or oversize charges apply when the additional bag fee is paid.
Max. weight per bag: 23kg (50lb)
Max. linear dimensions per bag: 158 cm (62in)
Overweight bag: $105 CAD/USD (per direction) for bags between 23-32kg (50-70lb)

Air Canada Checked Baggage Fees for Intercontinental Flights
Be sure to note that Air Canada has increased 1st Checked Bag fees on flights from Canada or US to Europe (Trans-Atlantic Flights) for all flights, yet hide this fact in their baggage calculator. These fees shown below apply to the cheapest fare offering, Air Canada's Basic Economy, which are hidden on the Air Canada website.
Trans-Atlantic Checked Bag Fees for Air Canada Basic Economy Flights
1st Bag - 23 kg / 50 lbs - $75 CAD/USD per direction.
2nd Bag - 23kg / 50 lbs - $100 CAD/USD per direction.
For Standard Economy (not Basic Economy) passengers, the 1st bag is included for free in the price of the ticket.
Most Other Intercontinental Flights
1st bag - Free
2nd bag - $100 CAD/USD (per direction)
Each additional bag - $225 CAD/USD (per direction)
No overweight or oversize charges apply when the additional bag fee is paid.
Max. weight per bag: 23kg (50lb)
Max. linear dimensions per bag: 158 cm (62in)
Overweight bag: $100 CAD/USD (per direction) for bags between 23-32kg (50-70lb)
Oversized bag: $100 CAD/USD (per direction) for bags between 158-292cm (63-115in)

No Overweight or Oversized fee is charge for additional bags (upon payment of the $225 Additional Bag fee).

Additional baggage allowance privileges may apply when flying with any of the following frequent flyer statuses: Star Alliance Silver, Star Alliance Gold, Prestige 25k, Elite 35k, Elite 50k, Elite 75k, Super Elite 100k, or if flying in Economy Flex, Premium Economy, Premium Rouge, or Business Class.
