Volaris International Flight Carry-On Allowances
Volaris Vuela Basic fare does not allow any cabin baggage on-board, you may only bring a single "personal item" of dimensions 14 x 18 x 8 inches. You can purchase an standard-sized carry-on bag allowance (up to 10 kg / 22 lbs) for $57-$63 (at booking, up to $90 at the airport).
Volaris Vuela Classic fare allows a personal item of 14 x 18 x 8 inches, as well as a ONE carry-on bag of 22 x 16 x 10 inches, with a maximum weight of 10 kg / 22 lbs. If you buy an additional carry-on item (about $95), you are only buying the right to a 2nd carry-on item, but it does not increase your carry-on weight allowance - the 10 kg / 22 lbs weight limit remains the same for the TOTAL of both carry-on bags together. Volaris Vuela Plus allows a personal item of 14 x 18 x 8 inches, plus TWO carry-on bags of 22 x 16 x 10 inches each. Keep in mind that the 10 kg / 22 lbs weight limit is for both carry-on bags COMBINED, not 10 kg / 22 lbs each. Also, please note that if departing / transiting through the USA, TSA only allows 2 items of carry-on (personal item + carry-on bag) through the security checkpoint, so the 2 carry-on bag allowance is not valid if flying through/from the US.
Volaris National Flights Within Mexico Carry-On Allowance
Vuela Basic passengers may bring 1 small carry-on items, limited in size to 22 x 16 x 10 inches, and a small personal item that must fit under the seat in front of you. The maximum weight of 10 kg / 22 lbs TOTAL (total of both small carry-on items). You can purchase an additional 10 kg / 22 lbs allowance for $710-$910 MXN.
Vuela Classic passengers may bring 2 carry-on items (1 small personal item, 1 standard carry-on item limited in size to 22 x 16 x 10 inches), and maximum weight of 20 kg / 44 lbs TOTAL (total sum of both items).
Vuela Plus passengers have the same carry-on allowance as Vuela Classic passengers, meaning they may also bring 2 carry-on items (1 small personal item, 1 standard 22 x 16 x 10 inches carry-on item), with maximum weights of 20 kg / 44 lbs total between both pieces.
Pre-boarding security screening process
You can take liquids, gels or aerosols in your carry-on baggage in:
Containers no larger than 3.4 oz
A transparent, closed, re-sealable plastic bag
A maximum of 350 ml total may be brought on board as carry-on for any flights going to/from the USA.
The following items are exempt from restriction, must be declared at security and may be subject to revision:
Infant formula, milk and baby food
Drugs with or without medical prescription
