Flair Airlines Wheelchair Policy and Special Assistance Guide

Preparing your Wheelchair to Fly on Flair Airlines

Flair airlines recommends a minimum of 72 hours notice to guarantee their ability to accommodate your needs. The airline will ask a number of questions to ensure they are able to accommodate your wheelchair, including battery size and type (if applicable), the dimensions of your wheelchair, and whether or not there are detachable portions of your wheelchair which should travel in the cabin.

Battery Operated Mobility Aids on Flair Airlines

There are very strict criteria for travelling with battery-operated equipment. Flair Airlines adheres to these criteria very seriously. Be prepared to provide the manufacturers instructions, or direct verbal instructions to Flair team members on how to help prepare your battery. All terminals must be protected against electrical shorting and prevented from contacting metal objects.  [AMZ asins='B07YNFD9LJ,B01L28ANI2,B074MW1MTW,B00RKJUPS6']

Mobility scooters must have their batteries removed and be fully collapsed and are accepted both in the cabin as carry on-baggage, or as checked baggage. Scooter keys must be removed and kept with you.

Checking in Your Wheelchair with Flair Airlines

Please note that if your wheelchair cannot be turned on its side to accommodate the size of the cargo door, Flair Airlines will not be able to accept it for transport. However, once through the door, most mobility aids will be transported in an upright position.

Wheelchair Size Limits on Flair Airlines: 136 kg (300lb) and 84cmx122cm (33inx48in). If your wheelchair or mobility device does not fit within these limits, Flair will not be able to accept it for transport.

Requesting Airport Assistance Flying with Flair Airlines

Flair Airlines provides in-airport assistance, up to and including assisting with the boarding process. They have three categories of wheelchair users to whom they offer assistance, as follows:

Wheelchair, can walk up steps - this level of assistance means that you require your wheelchair mainly for distance and can walk up and down stairs. You do not require assistance with boarding or deplaning, or with accessing the lavatory while in flight.

Wheelchair, no steps - you require your wheelchair for distance, and cannot walk up and down stairs. You do not need assistance with boarding or deplaning, or with accessing the lavatory in flight.

Wheelchair, carry on – you require transfer services from your wheelchair into the aircraft, to/from your seat, and to/from the lavatory in flight.

Other Mobility Aids (Canes, Crutches, Walkers) on Flair Airlines

All non-electric mobility devices such as canes, walkers, etc, are accepted with no charge on Flair Airlines as cabin baggage, provided the item adheres to carry-on baggage size allowances. If you do not require the item during travel to assist with your mobility needs, you are welcome to check them, however all checked bag fees will apply.
