Virgin Australia Checked Baggage Fees 2023 - Checked Bag Weight & Size Limits

Virgin Australia has updated it's baggage fees for 2023. They have split Domestic and International Short-Haul flights, so each type now has it's own different baggage fees. Please review the updated fees below:

All bags must be within the maximum linear dimensions of 140 cm (55 inches) - meaning Length + Width + Height = 140 cm.

Velocity Status Complimentary Checked Baggage Allowance
Velocity Red status does not increase your free checked baggage allowance. Only Velocity Silver and Gold members are entitled to 2 x 23 kg bags (3 x 23 kg for Platinum members) when flying on Economy Choice, Flex, and Reward seats. Velocity status does not include any bags when flying on a Lite fare ticket.

For business class passengers, Velocity Platinum status increases your baggage allowance to 3 x 32 kg free of charge.

Velocity complimentary baggage allowance is based on status at time of travel, not time of booking.

Purchasing Additional Bags on Virgin Australia Flights
You may purchase additional bags by adding them to your reservation online, via the Guest Contact Centre, or at the airport. We always recommend to add your bags online, as it is the cheapest way to add extra bags to your booking. The fees for additional bags are as follows:

At the Airport: $110

Online: $75
Guest Contact Centre: $100
At the Airport: $160

You may purchase up to 2 additional bags online or via the contact centre for your flight. If you need to add more bags (up to a maximum of total 9 bags per passenger, subject to available space), you may do so only at the airport while checking-in for your flight. In this case, the higher "At the Airport" baggage rate will apply.
