At Virgin America, we actually allow you to bring a lot, and at very reasonable rates.

Main Cabin Guests

Main Cabin guests may check up to ten (10) bags, at 50 pounds each, for a fee of $25 per bag.

Guests who have purchased the fully refundable Main Cabin fare may check the first bag up to 50 pounds free of charge. Bags two (2) through ten (10) may weigh up to 50 pounds for a $25 fee each.

All checked bags may have a maximum size of is 62 inches, which is calculated by adding the length plus the width plus the height. Oversized bags and overweight bags will be assessed a fee as listed below.

Main Cabin Select Guests
Main Cabin Select Guests may check one bag up to 50 lbs free of charge. Bags two through ten weighing up to 50 lbs may be checked for a fee of $25 each. Oversized bags and overweight bags will be assessed a fee as listed.

First Class Guests
First Class guests may check two bags up to 50 lbs free of charge. Bags three through ten weighing up to 50 lbs may be checked for a fee of $25 each. All checked bags may have a maximum size of is 62 inches, which is calculated by adding the length plus the width plus the height. Oversized bags and overweight bags will be assessed a fee as listed below.

Guests Traveling To And From Mexico
International baggage allowances are the same as domestic travel, however, departures from Mexico may be subject to taxes.

Baggage allowance for Government or Military Travelers
Active duty military personnel who present their active Military ID or Department of Defense orders are allowed to check up to 10 bags free of charge provided they weigh 70 lbs or less and are within the normal size restrictions. In addition, Military Guests may check a duffel bag, b-4 bag, or sea bag which exceeds the 62 outside linear dimensions, these bags will be accepted as two checked bags with no additional charge and may weigh up to 100 lbs each.

Guests traveling on a government fare are not eligible for a free allowance and are subject to our standard baggage allowances included in their fare rules.

Does my wheelchair count against my baggage allowance?
If you are a passenger with a disability who is traveling with a wheelchair, the wheelchair will not count against your baggage allowance. If it does not fit in the overhead storage bin, we will be glad to check your folding, collapsible or non-folding manual wheelchair, battery-powered wheelchair and scooter and other assistive device as checked baggage.

Wheelchairs checked at the gate will be returned to guests on the jetbridge at the gate area, or at the baggage claim upon arrival.
