Wheelchair Size Limits on Jet2 Airlines

Manual wheelchairs must be or be able to collapse to 81cm or less in order to fit through the cargo doors, and must weigh less than 32kg. If your wheelchair or mobility aid weighs more than this, Jet2 asks that you let their Special Assistance team know when you make your reservation.

Battery Operated Mobility Aids on Jet2 Airlines

Jet2 accepts dry/non-spillable/gel batteries and lithium batteries, provided they adhere to the regulations below. Wet-cell or spillable batteries are accepted on a case-by-case basis – Jet2 asks that you contact the special assistance team to discuss your case.

Dry/non-spillable/gel cell batteries

If the battery is removable, it must be removed and protected from short circuit or accidental activation. The battery must be transported in a strong, rigid, weatherproof box (not provided by Jet2, you must provide this box) in the cargo hold.

You may bring a maximum of two spare dry/non-spillable/gel-cell batteries.

If the battery is not removable, it must stay secured to the chair with the terminals isolated or covered to prevent accidental activation

Lithium-Ion batteries

If removable, the lithium-ion battery must be removed from the wheelchair or mobility device, and must not exceed 300Wh each. These batteries must be protected from short circuit and carried as cabin baggage.

If the battery is not removable, it may remain securely attached to the wheelchair or mobility device, provided it is protected from short circuit or accidental activation. In this case, there is no watt hour limitation on the battery.

You may bring one spare battery up to 300Wh, or two spare batteries up to 160Wh each. The spare batteries must also be protected from short circuit and carried as cabin baggage.

Requesting Wheelchair Assistance at the Airport when Flying with Jet2 Airlines

Jet2 offers three levels of mobility assistance through the airport, which you can request through a code when making your booking. The three different codes are as follows:

WCHR - You require assistance from check in to the top of the jet bridge or bottom of aircraft steps.

WCHS - You require assistance from check in to the door of the aircraft, whether that be at the bottom of the jet bridge or the top of aircraft steps.

WCHC - You require assistance from check in directly to your seat on the aircraft.

Lost or Damaged Wheelchairs With Jet2

Jet2 adheres to the Montreal Convention and limits their liability when it comes to wheelchairs to 1100 GBP. They strongly encourage you to take out your own travel insurance to cover your wheelchair or mobility aid if it is worth more than this.
