Edelweiss Air SCUBA Gear Fees

You can fly with your SCUBA Diving equipment for free on Edelweiss Air in addition to your free checked baggage allowance.

Even though your SCUBA gear flies for free, you still have to register it by adding it to your flight reservation at least 4 days before departure. You can do so via the Edelweiss Air website. [AMZ asins='B00NIYJF6U,B001PB6R4Q,B009F1924K,B00ZHPLCS2']

Your SCUBA Diving gear can be packed into 2 separate pieces, with a bag for your tank/cylinder (must be empty and open), and a dive bag for all of your other items such as snorkel, fins, wetsuit, BCD-jacket, mask, lamp. These 2 bags will count as a single piece of Diving equipment. Only 1 piece of sports equipment is accepted free of charge - extra items you will have to pay the standard extra bag fee for your flight.

When flying with a dive lamp, be sure to check the Edelweiss "Dangerous Goods" regulations on how to safely pack your dive lamp, with the battery removed and safely packed to avoid short circuits, and the bulb removed and brought with you into the cabin.

SCUBA gear is limited in weight to 23 kg / 50 lbs. If your SCUBA Gear weighs more than 23 kg / 50 lbs, up to a maximum of 32 kg / 70 lbs, you can still fly with it on Edelweiss, but you will have to pay the "Category Big" sports equipment fee, as follows:

Flights to/from Europe:
Category Normal (up to 23 kg): CHF 0.-
Category Big (up to 32 kg): CHF 149.-

Flights to/from North Africa and Jordan:
Category Normal (up to 23 kg): CHF 0.-
Category Big (up to 32 kg): CHF 201.-

Flights to/from Short-haul intercontinental destinations:
Category Normal (up to 23 kg): CHF 0.-
Category Big (up to 32 kg): CHF 287.-

Flights to/from Medium-haul intercontinental destinations:
Category Normal (up to 23 kg): CHF 0.-
Category Big (up to 32 kg): CHF 368.-

Flights to/from Long-haul intercontinental destinations:
Category Normal (up to 23 kg): CHF 0.-
Category Big (up to 32 kg): CHF 460.-
