Lufthansa Checked Baggage Fees 2020 - Checked Bag Weight & Size Limits

The permitted free baggage allowance is determined by the service class booked and the status of the passenger and is shown on the ticket/Passenger Receipt.

Economy Class: 1 piece of maximum 23kg/50lbs
Premium Economy Class: 2 pieces of maximum 23kg/50lbs each
Business Class: 2 pieces of maximum 32kg/70lbs each
First Class: 3 pieces of maximum 32kg/70lbs each

The maximum dimensions per item of baggage are 158 cm (width + height + depth).

There is an exception for Economy Light fares between the USA/Canada and Europe for which there is no free checked baggage allowed.

With the new Light fare, one piece of baggage weighing up to 23 kg can be booked for a fee. With the Classic and Flex fares, as usual, one piece of baggage weighing up to 23 kg is free.

Travelling with children - Lufthansa Free baggage rules for children
Children under two years of age have an allowance of one bag weighing up to a maximum of 23 kg irrespective of their service class or customer status, with the exception of Economy Light class. They have no carry-on baggage allowance, but are allowed 1 child seat OR 1 foldable pushchair/buggy OR 1 baby basket.

Children aged two or over have the same free baggage allowance as adults.

Suitable car seats, baby baskets or foldable pushchairs may be brought on board as additional carry-on baggage free of charge (pushchairs will be transported in the hold) for children 2-7 years old.

A higher free baggage allowance applies to Frequent Travellers, Senators, HON Circle Members and Star Alliance Gold members.
