Wizz Air Wheelchair Policy and Special Assistance Guide

Flying With Your Wheelchair on WIZZ Air

In order to ensure a safe and comfortable flight, WIZZ Air requires you to inform them of your assistance needs a minimum of 48 hours before your departure. They recommend that you make your request at the time of booking, or by calling the Special Assistance Call Centre the day that you make your reservation. If you are unable to lift yourself without help, move from your seat while inflight unaided, etc, you are required to have a travelling companion over the age of 16 who is physically capable of assisting you. WIZZ Air will do their best to ensure that your companion is seated next to you.

When making your reservation, be prepared to provide the dimensions, weight, and battery type (if applicable) of your wheelchair. [AMZ asins='B07YNFD9LJ,B01L28ANI2,B074MW1MTW,B00RKJUPS6']

You will be required to check your wheelchair at the check-in desk, and WIZZ Air will provide you with one of theirs on the way to the aircraft and when you arrive at your destination. Your wheelchair will not incur baggage fees and will be returned to you at baggage claim.

Battery Operated Mobility Aids on WIZZ Air

WIZZ Air only accepts dry-cell, non spillable batteries for transport. Batteries must be securely attached to the wheelchair, with the terminals insulated in order to prevent short-circuiting.

Lost or Damaged Wheelchairs on WIZZ Air

In case of loss or damage to your wheelchair, you must make a report before leaving the arrivals area, and obtain a PIR from a WIZZ Air agent. You must then make a claim either by mail or submit a claim online by logging into your WIZZ Air account.

Flying with Other Mobility Aids on WIZZ Air

Other mobility aids such as crutches may be taken on board the aircraft as carry-on baggage free of charge. Items such as walkers must be carried as checked baggage, but will also be free of charge. If you are travelling in a cast which means you cannot bend at the knee, WIZZ Air requires that you purchase an extra seat – you can do so by entering “EXST” in the first name field when you are making your reservation.
