Flying with Musical Instruments on PLAY Airlines

There are 3 ways to bring musical instruments with you on PLAY Airlines - as a carry-on item, as checked baggage, or by purhasing an extra seat for your musical instrument.

Musical Instruments as Carry-On Baggage on PLAY Airlines

Your musical instrument can be brought as a carry-on item and placed into the overhead bin, as long as it fits within the carry-on bag limits, and you have purchased a carry-on bag allowance. Your instrument will count as your 2nd carry-on item.  Please see the PLAY Airlines carry-on bag allowance. [AMZ asins='B0CMR5YLMN,B01BGX82G8,B083TJQ1XN,B000T07XFG']

Musical Instruments as Checked Baggage on PLAY Airlines

You may check-in your musical instrument as a piece of regular baggage, or if it is an odd-size item, you can purchase an "Odd-Size Checked Bag" allowance during your booking. There are two options, depending on the size and weight of your instrument:

1. Regular Odd-Size Bag - 80x124 cm (70x48 in) and 20 kg (44 lbs)
2. Large Odd-Size Bag - 277x75x65 cm (109x29x25 in) and 32 kg (70 lbs)

Please see the PLAY Airlines Checked Baggage section for pricing of Odd-Size Bags.  Be sure to note it is cheapest to add your instrument/odd-size bag while making your original booking, rather than adding it later or paying for it at the airport.

Buying Extra Seat for Musical Instrument on PLAY Airlines

You may also purchase an extra seat for your larger musical instruments such as cellos, to bring them into the cabin with you.  To do so, please contact the PLAY Airlines Service Team: https://flyplay.com/contact-us

You will be charged the regular airfare minus airport taxes. Please note, you will not be allowed to purchase additional baggage allowances for your instrument, even if it has its own seat.

Packing your Musical Instrument for Flying with PLAY Airlines

All musical instruments must be packed to withstand regular baggage handling.  PLAY Airlines offers limited liability if any instrument is damaged in transit - it is recommended to purchase additional travel insurance for your instrument to cover and potential damage that may occur from regular baggage handling.
