COPA Airlines has increased excess baggage fees in 2023 for additional bags, as well as for overweight luggage.
Extra Bag Fees on COPA Airlines 2023
Additional Bags (3rd, 4th, 5th bag) are charged a fee of $180 on COPA Airlines International Flights, and $50 on Domestic routes. This fee applies for all fare classes, and the extra bag is limited to 23 kg / 50 lbs (including for Business Class passengers).

A maximum of checked bags total are permitted per passenger.
Overweight Bag Fees on COPA Airlines 2023
An overweight bag fee applies to all bags weighing more than 23 kg / 50 lbs (more than 32 kg / 70 lbs for Business Class passengers). No bag may weigh more than 45 kg / 100 lbs.
Overweight Bag Fee (23 - 32 kg / 50 - 70 lbs): $100
Overweight Bag Fee (32 - 45 kg / 70 - 100 lbs): $200
Exception: No bag weighing more than 32 kg / 70 lbs is allowed to/from Cuba and the Bahamas
Oversize Bag Fees on COPA Airlines 2023
COPA Airlines charges an Oversize Bag Fee of $150 USD will be charged for all bags larger than 62 Inches (158 cm) in linear dimensions (Length + Width + Height). No bag may be larger than a total of 115 inches (294 cm) in L + W + H.
Excess Bag Fees are Cumulative on COPA Airlines
All excess baggage fees on COPA Airlines are cumulative, meaning that all applicable fees will be charged. For example, if you are bringing a 3rd bag that is overweight and oversize, all 3 fees will be charged. Taxes may be applied to these costs based on the country in which you are paying the fees.
Baggage Embargoes
Some extra restrictions on excess baggage apply during peak travel periods, which limit the amount of extra baggage allowed on certain routes. These peak periods are July 24 2023 - August 15 2023. A luggage embargo on flights to/from Cuba is in place until Dec 31 2023. During these times, you may be additional limitations on how much luggage you may bring, even when willing to pay the excess luggage fees.
