Each piece of checked baggage may not exceed 50 kg in weight and 40x60x100 cm in dimension. For our national routes, every piece of check-in baggage cannot exceed 50 kg and must have a volume under 40x60x100 cm; for international or regional routes, every piece of check-in baggage cannot exceed 32 kg, and the total sum of the three edges of each piece should not exceed 158 cm (62 in). Baggage not within the specified range above cannot be transported unless approved by China Southern Airlines otherwise.

For the domestic legs of international transportation, restrictions to the baggage's packaging, volume and weight will be subject to applicable international route standard.

The above specifications of baggage (including volume and weight) are maximum limits acceptable to airline companies, but not the free baggage allowance. Passengers may need to pay for portions in excess of the free baggage allowance.

New rules apply to the sales of passenger tickets as of September 1, 2011.
The free baggage allowance (including checked and carry-on baggage) for all passengers of national routes is: 40 kg for first-class passengers, 30 kg for business class passengers and 20 kg for economy class passengers. Passenger with an infant-fare ticket is granted 10 kg of free baggage allowance.

Free baggage allowance (including checked and carry-on baggage) for all passengers of international routes: baggage transportation for international routes of China Southern Airlines adopt the weight free baggage allowance, except for China-America, China-Europe (excluding Russia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Armenia, Turkey, etc.) routes.

For China-America route, with an adult or child ticket, first-class passengers may carry three pieces of baggage free of charge and business class passengers may carry two pieces of baggage free of charge, where the sum of the three edges of every piece of baggage should not exceed 158 cm (62 in.) and the weight should not exceed 32 kg (70 lb.); high-end economy class and economy class passengers may carry two pieces of baggage free of charge, where the sum of the three edges of every piece of baggage should not exceed 158 cm (62 in.) and the weight should not exceed 23 kg (50 lb.). China-America and China-Canada routes adopt free pieces of baggage allowance. Economy class passengers may carry two pieces of baggage free of charge, where every piece of baggage should not exceed 23 kg (50 lb.) and the sum of the three edges of every piece of baggage should not exceed 158 cm (62 in.).

China-Europe routes (except the China Southern Airlines routes for Russia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Armenia, Turkey, etc.) adopt free pieces of baggage allowance. Economy class passengers may carry one piece of baggage free of charge, high-end economy class passengers may carry two pieces of baggage free of charge, and first class and business class passengers may carry three pieces of baggage free of charge, where every piece of baggage should not exceed 23 kg (50 lb.) and the sum of the three edges of every piece of baggage should not exceed 158 cm (62 in.).

If two or more passengers take a flight together to the same destination, their free baggage allowance may be totaled according to the standards of their ticket price levels if they check their baggages at the same time and at the same counter.

Passengers who change their cabin grade involuntarily are subject to the free baggage allowance of their original ticket price.

For the domestic legs of international transportation, the free baggage allowance of each passenger should be calculated according to the applicable free baggage allowance of international routes.
