JetBlue accepts your surfboard as a piece of checked baggage, upon payment of a $100 USD / £80 / €90 fee for transport. Please note, this fee has been increased by JetBlue in recent years (previously only $50).

Be aware that JetBlue theoretically only accepts ONE board per boardbag, and every board will incur this $100 handling fee. Whether the fee is assessed multiple times when packing multiple boards into a single board bag depends on the agent you get at the check-in counter, but JetBlue makes it clear in their policy that multiple fees will be assessed. When planning your surftrip, we recommend looking to book with Delta, Alaska, American, or Southwest, which have more surf-friendly policies. What is accepted:
One (1) surfboard per case; size and weight restrictions do not apply, except items weighing more than 100 pounds will not be accepted as checked baggage. We recommend that surfboards travel in a hard-sided (rather than soft-sided) case to prevent damage.

Domestic Flights:
Surfboards are accepted on JetBlue domestic flights for a fee of $100 per board each way and will count as a checked bag. Limit of ONE board per bag. Excess baggage fees may apply.

International Flights:
Surfboards are also accepted on JetBlue international flights for a fee of $100 USD / £80 / €90 per board each way and will count as a checked bag. Limit of ONE board per bag. Excess baggage fees may apply.

Surfboards are accepted to all destinations EXCEPT to/from Bermuda, Haiti, Peru, Port of Spain, Santo Domingo and Santiago.

*Please note: Surfboards ARE accepted on flights to/from Puerto Plata, and Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.

Skimboards on JetBlue Flights
Skimboards within the 62 linear inch maximum bag size will count as a checked bag with no additional charge. Skimboards over 62 linear inches would be charged the oversize/overweight fee depending on size and/or weight.

Stand-up Paddle Boards (SUP boards) on JetBlue Flights
Paddle boards and paddles are not accepted on JetBlue flights due to size constraints and difficulty of transport.
