There is a maximum one carry-on bag that you are allowed to take onto the plane, with dimensions being no larger than 23 x 40 x 51cm. However, Sunwing does have a strict limit of only 5kg in terms of weight, so you are very limited in how much you can take as a carry-on item.+ Show Full Policy
Carry-on baggage is restricted to one standard article with maximum dimensions of 23 x 40 x 51 cm (9 x 16 x 20 in).The weight of a Carry-on bag cannot exceed 5kg. Any carry-on bag that exceeds these specified limits must be prepared for check-in and will be charged at the applicable airline rate per kg, for each direction.
Musical instruments which exceed carry-on dimensions 9 x 16 x 20 inches and weigh more than 5kg must be prepared for check-in and carriage in the baggage hold of the aircraft.
Everyone is allowed to check baggage that is no larger than 158cm (62 in), when combining length + width + height.
Weight limits are dependent on the cabin class you are flying in, with Elite being allowed 20kg of checked baggage, whilst Elite Plus gets an extra allowance of 10kg more, for a total of 30kg.

Free allowance per seat paying passenger - unless otherwise indicated, allowable total weight per person is 20KG and allowable number of items per person is 2.

Advanced purchase of excess baggage through Sunwing will be treated as part of the baggage allowance.
All paying passengers may travel with checked baggage and one carry-on bag.
As the loading of heavy baggage is a safety concern for baggage handlers, the maximum weight of any one piece of your checked baggage cannot exceed 32kg.
Dimensions of checked baggage, (Length+Width+Height), must not exceed 62 inches (158 cm). Any oversized pieces may be rejected at check-in and those who wish to transport such pieces can contact a cargo service provider.
Overweight baggage will be charged on a per kilogram basis. The usual rate is $20/kg of excess baggage (anything exceeding the amount specified for your flight). A reduced rate of $10/kg is applied for Domestic and Transborder (Canada to/from US) flights.

Please note that excess baggage will be accepted on a standby basis; weight and space permitting. On longer duration flights, excess baggage may not be accepted subject to weight limitations.

Irregular Items - Limitations and Charges
If you are planning to take certain irregular items such as sporting equipment including golf clubs, bicycles, scuba gear, etc or musical instruments; these items must be properly prepared for check-in for shipping in the hold of the aircraft and should not exceed the weight limitations stipulated. The proper container in which the equipment is packed may not contain any other goods other than the sporting goods or instrument themselves and associated paraphernalia (excluding clothes).
Please see the chart below for information on applicable charges for luggage in excess of the allowable limits as explained herein for Elite and Elite Plus service; as well as, governing restrictions and any applicable charges for irregular items such as musical instruments, bicycles and other oversized sports equipment.
Please note irregular items as defined herein, such as sporting equipment or musical instruments may not be substituted for the free personal baggage allowance. Also, any unused weight within the irregular items allowance may not be transferred or used toward personal baggage allowance. Refer to Baggage and Irregular Items Limitations and Charges chart below.
Once the total weight of checked luggage, plus the maximum weight allowed for the irregular item according to the chart have been exceeded, excess baggage charges will apply as indicated.

Preparation and Carriage of Sports Equipment
Sunwing will accept sporting equipment -Golf, Scuba, Skis, Bicycles, Kiteboards. All items must be properly packaged / prepared for check-in and carriage in the cargo hold of the aircraft and are subject to certain limitations. (See above chart)
Other Sports Equipment subject to Excess Charges
Sunwing will carry the following sports equipment as excess baggage at a reduced fee. Please note it cannot be substituted for the free baggage allowance.
Sunwing will carry certain other sports equipment such as Surfboards, Windsurfers, Kayaks as excess baggage at a reduced fee. (See chart for restrictions and charges) Please note sporting equipment cannot be substituted for the free baggage allowance and the fees paid to Sunwing Airlines to transport the sporting equipment to the destination does not include transportation on the local transfer bus provided by the tour operator. Please consult Sunwing Vacations Sales Centre to make additional arrangements as there may be extra costs to be paid locally. This includes the transportation of bicycles.
All other sports equipment will be treated as part of the baggage allowance. Passengers are required to show their receipt as proof of payment for the return sector when round trip charges have been applied at the outbound Canadian gateway.
Passengers are allowed to carry only one piece of sporting equipment per passenger. Passengers are not permitted to include personal items such as clothing or other non-related items in the sport equipment container (e.g. extra clothes in a golf bag; see details below).
Baby equipment (playpen, car seat or stroller) 1 item per infant will be carried as a courtesy item and is exempt from Excess Baggage charges No free allowance is permitted for children under 2 years of age with no paid seat.
For infants with paid seats one free item per infant will be carried as a courtesy item. Excess baggage charges apply if weight limit is exceeded. Refer to Baggage and Irregular Items Limitations and Charges chart above.
Acceptance of Mobility Aids
Sunwing will accept in addition to the regular free baggage allowance, the following items as priority checked baggage without charge and which will be stowed in the Baggage Compartment of the aircraft:
Manually operated wheelchairs and walkers
Wheelchairs with non-spillable batteries (with terminals disconnected and taped) Maximum size accepted for transport is 46 inches (width) x 31 inches (height).
Mobility aids such as, but not limited to manually operated wheelchairs, walkers, crutches and canes
Walkers, Crutches and canes may be retained in the passengers custody provided they are stowed in accordance with the carrier’s safety regulation & provided they may be accommodated
Please ensure that any of these items that are checked-in at the check-in counters are properly and securely packaged to be accepted into the mechanical baggage sortation system of the airport facility. Removable components of mobility items, such as customized pillows or cushions, footrests, armrests, baskets etc. should be taken into the cabin with the passenger.
Traveling with a Wheelchair
Sunwing can arrange wheelchair assistance for passengers up to 24 hours prior to the flight departure. If you require a wheelchair, please contact our reservations office. Please note that our staff may need to ask some questions relating to the passenger's health, mobility and if they would require assistance onboard. We would also need to know if they will be bringing the wheelchair with them as checked luggage. Our staff will ask them if it is a manually powered wheelchair or wetcell battery powered wheelchair. In both cases Sunwing would need to know the actual total weight of the wheelchair.
Note: Sunwing will not accept any wheelchairs which are powered by wet cell batteries.
Once you have arranged wheelchair assistance through Sunwing, the wheelchair will be available at Sunwing check-in desks, within the terminal, at the airport. If you require any further information regarding disabled passengers traveling then please contact our reservations office.
Please Note: Battery operated wheelchairs and scooters cannot be taken on board an aircraft and will be taken at check-in as checked baggage. These types of items cannot exceed in size 46 inches (width) x 31 inches (height).
All wheelchairs and mobility aids are carried free of charge.
Traveling with Service Animals
Dogs trained to assist persons with disabilities.
Sunwing accepts for transportation, without charge, a properly harnessed and certified dog trained as a Service animal. It must be licensed and trained by a professional service animal institution to assist and accompany a passenger with a disability who is dependent upon such a dog. The service animal will be permitted to accompany such passenger into the cabin, but will not be permitted to occupy a seat. The service animal will be required to travel at the handler's feet and will be provided with enough floor space to lie down. Sunwing will require 1 week notice in order to provide seats with suitable floor space.
For the comfort of all passengers, the carrier staff will determine, in consultation with the person with a disability, where the person and service animal will be seated. Service animals will not be carried unless proper permits are obtained for entry into the countries of transit/final destination.
A copy of the training certificate along with updated records of vaccinations and licensing must be given to the agent at check-in at the start of the trip.
We recommend that the passenger also take a copy of the training certificate, vaccinations and licensing with them to satisfy the Authorities in the destinations as required.
