Checked Baggage Summary

Flights to/from Canada and the US are on a piece concept, allowing for up to 2 bags of 23kg/50lbs each for each passenger. Business and First Class passengers may check in 2 bags of 32kg/70lbs each.

All other routes are on a weight concept, allowing for multiple bags to be checked in. However, a maximum weight allowance for the total combined weight of all bags is in place. This allowance is as follows:

Economy: 20kg/44lbs
Business: 30k/66lbs
First: 40kg/88lbs

Please note that on regional and domestic routes within China, the weight allowance is a limit for the total weight of both Checked and Carry-on Baggage.

The excess baggage means that portion by which the Checked Baggage and Unchecked Baggage exceed the Free Baggage Allowance. Passengers shall pay for excess baggage.

North America Routes
Standard (piecework system):

Oversized baggage:
USD165/piece for a baggage >62 inches(158 CM) and ≤80 inches(203 CM)
USD445/piece for a baggage >80 inches(203 CM)

Baggage with excessive weight:
USD165/piece for a baggage >50 lbs(23 KG) and ≤70 lbs(32 KG)
USD445/piece for a baggage >70 lbs(32 KG) and ≤99 lbs(45 KG)
For Vancouver air line, the weight of baggage should not exceed 70 lbs(32 KG)/piece; for other North America air line, that should not exceed 99 lbs(45 KG)/piece.

Baggage with excessive number of piece: USD 165/piece

Baggage with excessive size, weight or number of piece: accumulating charging

Europe, Australia and Japan Routes
Effective on 10 January 2012 (ticket issue date), China Eastern would impose new check-in baggage standard on Europe, Australia and Japan routes with details as shown below (Piece System):

Over 62 to 80 inches(158 to 203 cm) -- USD165/PC
Over 80 inches(203 cm) -- USD330/PC, with MU authorization

Over 50 lbs(23 KG) to 70 lbs(32 KG) -- USD165/PC;
Over 70 lbs(32 KG)/PC is not allowed.

Extra 1st piece -- USD165/PC;
Extra 2nd piece and up -- USD330/PC

Progressive rate on over-sized / over-weight / over-piece baggage.

*Note: There may be fluctuation of the currency exchange rate between U.S. and departure nation.

Dubai Routes
Standards are as follows (piecework system):

Oversize baggage: 62 inches(158 cm)-80 inches(203 cm): USD165/piece;
>203cm: USD330/piece (subject to the approval of China Eastern Airlines)

Overweight baggage: 50 lbs(23 KG)-70 lbs(32 KG): USD165/piece;
Maximum weight for a single baggage is 70 lbs(32 KG)

Over-piece baggage: USD165 for the first excess piece;
USD330/piece from the second

Oversize, overweight and over-piece baggage: accumulated charge according to the standards above

Passengers with Disabilities
Many people with disabilities can safely and comfortably travel with China Eastern Airlines without making special arrangements. We require advance notice through our Reservation office or your travel agent for some disabilities and we recommend 72 hours advance notice before departure so that we can better accommodate any special needs you may have.

China Eastern wheelchair services
We would be more than happy to provide a wheelchair for you and should you require this service, please contact our Reservations office 72 hours before departure. In order to ensure the service meets your needs our Reservations staff will ask you whether you are able to walk without assistance, how far you are able to walk, and whether you can ascend and descend stairs without assistance.
China Eastern wheelchair service is provided, with an attendant, at no additional charge to you. The attendant will assist in transporting you within the airport area and to the gate or aircraft door (depending on the airport facilities). During peak travel periods, there may be a high demand for our wheelchair service, and we appreciate your patience in the event that it is necessary for you to wait a few minutes for this service. Please contact our Reservations office should you have any questions about our wheelchair service. Our staff will be happy to assist you.

Visually Impaired passengers
Passengers who are blind or visually impaired may bring a cane or other assistive/supportive device with them into the cabin. These items are not subject to the limit on cabin baggage. Passengers who are not blind or visually impaired may also bring a cane or other assistive/supportive device with them into the cabin at no additional charge. The cane will need to be stowed prior to takeoff and landing and stowage can be under your seat or in the overhead compartment. The cane needs to lie flat on the floor and should not block the emergency exit or protrude into the aisle.
