Carry-On Summary

All carry-on bags are limited to a maximum of 7kg/15lbs each, with total dimensions (l+w+h) not to exceed 105cm. Economy passengers may bring one such carry-on bag on international flights. First, Business, and Premium Economy passengers may bring 2 such bags. Two bags are also allowed for all passengers on domestic flights within Australia.

Two exceptions exist on domestic flights. Flights on a small Dash-8 plane are limited to a single carry-on bag. If flying to/from Olympic Dam, only 1 bag of maximum 4kg/9lbs is allowed.

Checked Baggage Summary

Domestic flights allow for 1 bag of maximum 23kg/50lbs for economy passengers. Business Club passengers are allowed up to 32kg/70lbs as their checked luggage. Special limits apply to some short-haul QantasLink flights.

International flights to/from North and South America allow for 2 bags of 23kg/50lbs each. For business passengers, the weight limit is increased to 32kg/70lbs for each bag.

All other international flights provide for a total of 23kg/50lbs for economy passengers, and 32kg/70lbs for business class passengers.

Excess/Oversize/Overweight Summary

Excess baggage is charged on a per kilogram basis, with the rate depending on the origin and destination of your flight. It is recommended to pre-book your excess/overweight baggage online on the Qantas website, as you will get a much better rate than the one at the airport. When pre-booking, the extra weight allowance is available in 5kg increments.
