Norwegian allows one small carry-on item for all passengers, that must fit under the seat in front of you. Only LowFare+ and Flex passengers may bring a larger (55 x 40 x 23 cm) carry-on suitcase/roller bag that may go into the overhead bins. LowFare passengers may NOT bring a larger carry-on bag without purchasing an additional carry-on allowance together with Priority Boarding.

(Please note, on flights to/from Dubai the total combined carry-on baggage allowance for all passengers is limited to 8 Kg)

Please keep in mind that if you are a LowFare passenger and you add an extra overhead carry-on bag, you weight limit is still only 10Kg, as this weight limit is the COMBINED total weight of both the underseat bag and the overhead bag.

Norwegian Airlines 2nd Carry-On Baggage Fees 2022
If flying on a LowFare ticket, you may purchase a 2nd carry-on bag that you can place into the overhead compartment for a fee of 5-10 EUR on Domestic flights, and 7-10 EUR on Short-Haul International flights. Please keep in mind that if you add an extra overhead carry-on bag, you weight limit will still be only 10 Kg, as this weight limit is applied to the COMBINED total weight of both the underseat bag AND the overhead bag. If you are on a LowFare+ or Flex ticket, your allowance already includes an overhead bag, and you cannot add any more.

Oversized Baggage at the Gate
If you arrive at the gate with you carry-on bag exceeding the maximum dimensions allowed by Norwegian Airlines, you will not be allowed to bring your item on-board - your bag will have to be gate-checked, and you will be charged a fee of 55 EUR for the service.

Norwegian Checked Baggage Fees 2022 - Checked Bag Weight & Size Limits

The price of checked baggage on Norwegian flights is much cheaper when purchasing online (up to 4 hours before the flight), than paying at the airport. You will be shown the exact price of your checked baggage when purchasing online. The price varies by length of flight and whether you have a direct or connecting flight.

Norwegian Free Checked Baggage - All Flights (except International Long-Haul)
LowFare passengers are not allowed any free checked baggage allowance. LowFare+ passengers are allowed 1 bag up to a maximum of 23kg, and Flex passengers may bring up to 2 bags of 23kg each free of charge.

Norwegian Airlines no longer flies international long-haul routes after cutting back on service in the post-COVID era.

Norwegian Checked Baggage fees range from 17-55 EUR for the first bag, and 30-85 EUR for a second bag on Direct flights, with higher prices (up to 34-110 EUR and 60-170 EUR) on connecting flights. Please note, higher charges may apply during high season between June 1st and August 31st.

If paying for baggage at the airport, you will be charged the following fees:

Direct Flights - International - 40 EUR
Connecting Flights - Domestic/Domestic - 80 EUR
Connecting Flights - Domestic/International - 80 EUR
Connecting Flights - International/International - 80 EUR

Baggage charges are non-refundable.

You may also have the option to purchase a small checked bag at the airport - the bag is limited to 55 x 40 x 23 cm (Standard Carry-On Sized Suitcase) and up to a maximum of 10 Kg. This option is only available at the airport, and costs 30 EUR.

Size and weight of bags of Norwegian flights
All checked bags are limited in weight up to a maximum of 23 kg. Exceeding this weight is allowed, but you will be charged an overweight fee. Norwegian does not accept individual baggage weighing more than 32 kg or less than 2kg. Norwegian permits a total baggage allowance of 74 kg per person (all bags combined). Excess baggage charges apply to any items over the 2 baggage limit, and to items over 23 kg. You will be charged an Excess Bag fee of 15 EUR per kilo, per leg.

Items of luggage other than a suitcase, bag or backpack is referred to as oversized baggage. Musical instruments or sporting equipment smaller than 90cm x 75cm x 55cm and within the weight allowance is permitted as normal checked baggage. Maximum dimensions of any bag are: length 250cm, height 79cm, width 112cm, and total circumference of 300cm.

All checked baggage must be clearly marked with name and phone number.

Children
Children under the age of two are allowed to check in up to 5 kilos of luggage free of charge - this can be either in your own bag (added to your weight allowance), or as a separate bag. A car seat and a pram/stroller will also be accepted free of charge. Children under the age of two who have not purchased their own seat do not have a hand baggage allowance and are only allowed to take onboard food and drink for the journey.

Children (2-11 years) for whom a seat has been purchased are able to take with them the baggage allowance they purchased. In addition, a car seat and a pram/stroller will also be accepted free of charge in addition to the baggage allowance.

Connecting flights
If you have purchased a connecting flight with Norwegian (two consecutive flights under the one reservation number), in most cases your checked baggage will be transported to your final destination.

If you have purchased two consecutive flights intended as a connection (with separate reservation numbers), you will need to collect your luggage before checking in for you next flight - you will be charged the checked baggage fees individually for each reservation number.

Norwegian Overweight Baggage Fee 2022 - Extra Bag Fee - Oversize Baggage

Excess baggage charges apply to any items over the weight limit of 23 kg. You will be charged an Excess Bag fee of 15 EUR per kilo, per leg, for every kilo exceeding the weight limit. No individual bag may weigh more than 32 kg.

Transportation of bicycles, large musical instruments, surfboards, and other sports equipment must be booked online prior to departure, with special rates applicable for these items.

NOTE: As there are limitations regarding the number of bikes and certain large musical instruments that can be carried onboard, we recommend that you make your booking and reserve early. This will enable Norwegian to ensure that there will be space for your oversized item.

All passengers travelling with oversized baggage must be checked-in at least one hour before departure.

You have the option to purchase oversized baggage when travelling with Norwegian. Oversized baggage is charged per person per segment. Excess baggage will be charged for any item that exceeds 23kg. Excess baggage is charged per kilo.
