Avianca Brazil is a Brazilian airline based in Sao Paulo, Brazil, flying to about 20 destinations in the country.
Avianca Brazil and Avianca of Colombia are two separate companies, although they operate under the same name. However, they do have slightly different baggage policies, so be mindful of which policies apply to your flight

Avianca Brazil passengers are allowed only 5kg of carry-on baggage. For Avianca Colombia passengers, the limit is up to 10kg maximum.+ Show Full Policy
Avianca Brazil passengers are allowed to bring one piece of hand luggage that may weigh no more than 5kg. The maximum allowable size is 115cm combined, with maximum dimensions of 40x55x20cm. If these limits are exceeded, the luggage must be checked. Avianca Colombia passengers are entitled to 10kg of carry-on baggage, along with one personal item such as a handbag, overcoat, etc.
Avianca Brazil passengers may bring up to 23kg/50lbs maximum.
Avianca Colombia domestic passengers are entitled to 2 bags each, weighing a maximum 23kg/50lbs combined weight. For Ejecutive passengers, the combined total weight limit is increased to 32kg/70lbs for the two bags.
International passengers are entitled to 2 bags of 50lbs/23kg each, or 70lbs/32kg each if flying within Latin America (South America, Central America, the Caribbean). Mexico is not considered Latin America, and remains with the 2 bags of 23kg/50lbs each limit.+ Show Full Policy
Avianca passengers traveling in Brazil may bring up to 23kg of checked baggage free of charge. This is for both adults and children. Infants traveling on the lap of an adult are entitled to 10kg of checked baggage. For the passenger infant (lap), a fully collapsible stroller or a carry basket or infant seat may be carried on board, according to space availability and provided flight safety is not affected.
The following are conditions for Avianca (Colombia).
Pieces that individually exceed the following measures cannot be accepted as luggage and they must be transported via cargo:
- For Avianca 101 pounds / 46 Kilos (90.5 inches / 230 lineal centimeters)
- For TACA 101 pounds / 46 kilos (86 inches / 216 lineal centimeters)
.Pieces considered as excess luggage will be treated as conditional luggage.
For flights in Latin America, this policy applies for flights within Brazil and Latin America.

Any excess weight above the permitted baggage allowance is considered as excess baggage and can only be transported by paying an additional fee for the item.
Any excess baggage and all boxes are accepted as conditional luggage and subject to available space on the plane. It is possible that the baggage will be shipped on the next flight with available capacity within the next five days.
Passengers can indicate to the Avianca team which of their pieces should be priority shipped.
Remember to contact the baggage office in the city where you are to find out when you can pick it up.
For flights within Colombia: Items weighing greater than or equal to 46 kgs (101 pounds) or where the sum of the exterior dimensions (length height width) is greater than 230 centimeters (90.5 inches) will not be accepted as checked baggage.
