Musical Instruments as Checked Baggage on Avelo Airlines

Musical instruments may be checked subject to a limited release of liability, as outlined in Avelo's Baggage limitations of liability.

If the musical instrument exceeds 50 pounds (22.7 kilograms) (including case or covering) in weight or 62 linear inches (157 cm) in size (outside length plus height plus width, including case or covering), an additional charge may apply in accordance with Avelo's Excess, Oversize and Overweight Baggage standards. This means that overweight instruments will be charged $100, and oversize instruments will be charged $100.  If your instrument is both oversize and overweight, both fees will apply for a total additional cost of $200, plus any standard checked baggage fees that would apply. Be sure to note that this is more expensive now in 2023, as Avelo has increased its Oversize and Overweight fees, which last year cost $50 each.
